Okay, so this little jacket thingy. So far, this is what I'm doing.

I ripped the seam in the jeans from front to back and cut off a good eight or nine inches of leg (I used an old pair of my jeans instead of my brother's). Then I sewed them together in the back, although I'm going to add a piece of the denim from the parts I cut off to join it together some more in the back, since I could have sworn that's what Emmett did, too. Although you can't see it in that photo, but I know she turned around and let the jacket hang, and I'm pretty sure there was more to it, because that one little spot doesn't cut it.

But seriously, I'm mostly done -- and I don't even have my grubby little paws on my sewing machine yet, which I think I have to buy a new little metal bobbin thing for anyway -- and it is so cute and already pretty comfy.

Of course, after I finish, I'm not really going to get to wear it until March at the very least, if I even have the cojones to wear it around here. *sigh* But I can still sew, so that's nice. :)

EDIT: HOLY SHIT. The low temp in my hometown today was one fucking degree. *headdesk*

Wait a minute, someone made a jacket out of a pair of pants? Did Bizarro invent this or something?

It was a challenge on a fashion designer show to make a designer outfit either out of or based on "the clothes on [their] backs". So the designer in question made a half-jacket out of his jeans.

So do we get a picture when it's done? :)

Hopefully. I still have to get batteries for my camera. :)

So you could do this by hand and don't need a sewing machine? Because I don't have one.

Oh, yeah. It's not even that much sewing, although it's denim, so more than two layers and it'll be a bitch. The hardest thing is fitting it right without a pattern, but other than that, it's easy enough to do without a sewing machine.
