My mother's annoyed that there were small children at the zoo when we went. I told her that when I have kids and she takes them to the zoo, I'm going to tell them to scream at the top of their lungs a LOT. *snickers*
In related news, I'm going to try to get my mom to read some CSI fanfic. I managed to convince her to let me print some out for her to read, although I had to explain what exactly I meant because as she put it, "But I know all the CSI stories." *giggles* So here's the thing -- I need recs for really great CSI fic, because I don't read it and I have no idea what's good.
Some points:
-- NO SLASH. It's a safe bet she won't read it. ("But Gil and Nick aren't gay." "Yes, but some people like to write like they're dating." "... but they're not gay." Etc., etc.)
-- It'd probably be best if they're not Gil/Sara. Or not shippy at all, truth be told, but I might be able to get my dad to read them, too, and he HATES Sara.
-- Gil-centric is best. My mother loves Gil Grissom. He's the only man she's allowed to leave my father for. (I told her I'd get her William Peterson if she'd get me Jensen Ackles. We're working out the details.)
-- Also, more we're-solving-a-case and less character studies might be better. Although if it's about Gil and it's awesome, I don't think she'll nitpick.
To give you some idea about how dorky my mom is about the show, I heard "That's just like that CSI episode ..." three different times at the zoo (prompting me to say, "Mom, you sound like me talking about Supernatural, you big nerd") and "Gil would love this" at the place with the bugs. HEE.
EDIT: Also, I know my mother's a big CSI geek because when I brought up JDM's role, she totally remembered who he was. See, I don't only get my fannish tendencies from my dad. ;)
