When did I become a conflict negotiator?

apocalypsosI just spent the last half hour having a nice long talk with my brother and then my mother.
My brother works maybe twenty-five hours a week at a grocery store and comes home to play Worlds of Warcraft. That's really all he does. He stays in his room all the time and never goes out. My parents are sick of this and thanks to the fact that my brother and mom both like to yell and curse, everybody in that house is fighting.
I told Bryan to knock off the cursing, get a full-time job, do what he has to to get a life (even if it means doing stuff by himself or trying new things), and plan what he has to if he wants to move out. (I also told him that in ten years, he's going to look back on what he's saying now and be like, "Damn, I was a dumb kid, wasn't I?")
I told my mother to stop antagonizing him before somebody does something they regret, try encouraging him for once, knock off jumping down his throat about getting a full-time job, and help him to move out (not monetarily, but by giving him the information and encouragement he needs to do it.)
It would be really nice if we didn't get a repeat of my parents pissing off their kid to the point where the kid just snaps and moves out with two weeks of planning. They've only got the two kids, after all, so making the driving-a-kid-out-of-their-home-by-arguing-until-they-crack thing a regular occurrance would be pretty scary.
