apocalypsos: (boo misbehave)

Last night before bed, I had two amaretto and Pepsis and read a bit from a future part of the Books of Boggs that I'd forgotten I'd written that made me cry. Which, okay, if it's making me cry and I'm the dumbass who wrote it ... heh.

Casey up five points against Santorum in the polls. HEEEEEE. Good. I particularly hate that new negative ad Santorum's running, which I saw last night and ... well, I think if you're Santorum, maybe mudslinging is not the thing you really want to start up. "He never goes to work because he's too busy campaigning!" makes me want to say, "Yes, against YOU! In which case I hope he never goes to work again!"

Okay, so. Synopsis or bust.

*sighs mournfully*

I don't want either of them. At. All.

I think Pennsylvania should just outlaw politicians. God knows we never get any good ones. (Although in a lesser-of-two-evils scenario, I'd rather have Casey.)

I honestly can't see a lesser of two evils. Not good is just not good.

I wholeheartedly agree. Dump all the damned politicians and hire managers and be done with it. If the manager screws up they get fired and no severence package. They do a good job, they get to keep their job and a pay increase based on the COLA's that seniors on Social Security receive.

You know that "You know you live in Pennsylvania ..." meme? It says something like, "You have a choice between pro-choice Republicans and pro-life Democrats," and all I could think is, "That says SOOOOO much about how cracked our government is."

Oooh no, I missed that meme, but yeah, that does sum us up nicely. I think Specter has to be the best example of the boondoggle that is our political quagmire. They're all crooks and crackpots. I've had folks tell me how lucky I was to have a 'center of the road' government and I had to laugh. They stay in the center of the road so they can milk the cows from both sides and nothing more. That pro-life Democrat is a staunch Christian Conservative while the pro-choice Repulbican is as well. But if you have a check in your hand both will tell you how they sympathize with the plight of Israel until they realize that your being pagan doesn't equate to being Jewish. Fancy that. Then they get quiet, smile and change the topic to infrastructure and jobs which are also jokes.

My dad always likes to point out how much he hates the politicians around here by telling how one of the locals who was running for some tax position or something came to the house pimping for a vote from him and complimented how he'd fixed up the house, then said she'd call him to come redo her kitchen. A month after she won the election (and he'd voted for her), there was a truck for another contractor sitting in front of her house.

Which, okay, is just a politician thing to do, but still. The woman lived two blocks away from us, for crying out loud, and I graduated with her son. (I had a HUUUUGE crush on him in high school, but that's completely unrelated.)

Worrying this. If I remember correctly Santorum was down by 15 points a month ago.

That's PA politics for you. I take it as a better sign that I haven't seen a single sign or bumper sticker around here supporting him, but I've seen a handful of DEFEAT SANTORUM stickers on cars.

They all kind of suck in their own special way, though. [livejournal.com profile] strix_an_stones did a perfect job of summing up just how fucked up our politics are. Take that national lesser-than-two-evils sort of voting and double the badness, and that's what we've got to choose from.

I don't know how it is out on the other side of the state, but here in Pittsburgh when someone mentions Santorum, the sound of crickets gets louder.

Do you guys have a lot of those lovely DEFEAT SANTORUM bumper stickers? They make me happy every time I see them.

I don't exactly love Casey, but I haaaaaaaate Santorum.

I haven't seen one Defeat Santorum sticker. Then again, most of the people around here still have their Kerry or Bush stickers on their cars, so we're nit that quick on the uptake.

Everyone seems to love Lynn Swann, though. What can I say. The Bus could run for President, and we'd all vote for him.

I live in fear that my baby will choose to be born on Election Day, or that his bris will be on that day (both are definite possibilities, depending on how late he comes!) and I won't get to vote against Santorum. I've been dreaming for 12 years about voting him out of office. Finally, the dream is near!

I haven't seen any pro- or anti- Santorum or Casey stickers around the Philly area, but most Philadelphians are certainly pro-Rendell, so I'm not too worried about Swann getting anywhere in this neck of the woods.

RICK SANTORUM IS A PUTZ. SATAN RUNS AGAINST RICK? STILL VOTE SATAN.

...ahem. Done now.

Honestly, though, I don't think that ad could make a worse opinion for him if he'd tried. Every news channel had somebody busting on him tonight.
