Am going through the Veronica Mars episodes I missed last season. *happy sigh*

I love Keith and Wallace and Lamb and Cliff (CLIFF! Oh, how I missed Cliff!) and Vinnie Van Lowe (*snickers*) and Dick and Mac and everybody.

The only problem I have right now having been completely spoiled for last season is actually watching Cassidy's character development as the season goes on knowing full well what the finale brings. I mean, I'm the kind of person who reads a lot of true crime and occasionally clicks through the Crime Library when she's bored and will watch any of the crime dramas they have on A&E or the History Channel. I own serial killer trading cards. I know serial killers and mass murderers and notorious murders really well -- if there were a board game for the history of murder, I'd clean up. And the way Cassidy behaves all season just does not feel like a mass murderer. Aaron behaved like a murderer, Woody acts like a child molester, but Cassidy, no matter how sociopathic he is supposed to be, doesn't display the right patterns to work for me. I know they were going for a "I never suspected it was him! He was such a nice kid!" vibe, but the thing is, it would be working better for me if they'd gone more for a "Actually, that explains a LOT" vibe from day one. Nothing overt or anything, but still.

Aaaaaaand now I want to play with my serial killer cards.

I only get to watch until nine, though, because that 9/11 special is on and as much as I loathe the "Let's put on a million documentaries and specials about it so NO ONE EVER FORGETS!" mentality, I really thought that special was one of the good ones. Yes, wingnuts, I'd much rather watch the footage of the actual heroes saving lives while understandably cursing up a storm than I would three hours of bullshit "docudrama." I'm such a terrible American. *eye roll*

Which one do you mean? I know there is an alternative 9/11 story on the Discovery Channel to the partisan propoganda one on ABC

Nope, the one on CBS, which if I'm not mistaken is the one with Robert DeNiro hosting and the footage of the firefighters from inside the towers. Of course, let's see if my affiliate actually shows it, because right now 60 Minutes is showing and the guide says it should be the documentary. If not, I know exactly who to bitch to -- my mom works customer service at the local telephone and cable company.

*nods* I'm totally in agreement on the Cassidy angle. They kept it secret, even from the actor, long enough that there really wasn't that much in the way of foundational setting-up before about half to two-thirds of the way through the season.

And then they couldn't just make him evil. They had to make him EEEEEEEEEEVIL. *rolls eyes*

You'll no doubt see as the season progresses. : )

Seriously. That's the kind of thing they should have told Kyle Gallner from the very beginning so that he could work it into his performance.

*nods* With Aaron Echolls, at least the FACT that he was (a) violent and (b) a man-slut. Sure, Rob Thomas threw in a few curve-balls along the way, but looking back one could TOTALLY see him as Lilly's murderer.

Er. The fact was obvious early on. *is running on very little sleep*

How so? I ask that sincerely, because I've just run through the entire S2 of VMars unspoiled but I haven't re-watched, and I never paid much attention to Beaver until near the end. I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary about him, so I'd be interested to know what kind of hints they left that I just never picked up on.

Ah, ooops! You're referring to Aaron here, clarifying your above comment about how he was obviously violient and a slut -- you're not talking about Beaver.

Never mind!

Yup, my bad. I should've been more explicit. *grin*

That was the one thing about Season 2 that just bugged me more than anything else. I don't know if I was just overly spoiled by season 1's continuity or what, but there was really only one thing before about episode 18 that showed anything of Cassidy being OMG SO EVOL, and that was all the way in 13.

I think the show really suffered because they didn't seem to have any idea which way they were going with all that. Maybe if they had gone with him as just scared and everything spiraling out of control, I would have bought that a whole lot more than the evil thing. Oh well, there was enough good stuff in Season 2 to keep me interested for Season 3, even if they did botch that storyline.
