Heroes is over, which means now I theorize stuff.

-- Okay, so Mohinder's got a dead sister and this other kid is related to some sort of dreaming ability. How does that even relate? If I were being really out there, I'd say Mohinder used to be the kid, and Mr. Bennet and Chandra used to work together, and the Haitian made Mohinder forget he was Sanjog, and Mohinder thinks he's Suresh's son when he's Sanjog the little dreaming kid and the kid in the dreams is his former self trying to smack some sense into him.

Uh, hi. I'm grasping at straws. And yourself?

-- Hiro didn't come back to the immediate second when he left when theoretically he could. Obviously he ended up back at the waitress' birthday party, which means he ended up at the diner earlier than that particular day and time. He got back to the same date and time the last time he tried a huge telechronoport or whatever the hell you call it (jump ... let's go with jump), so why not now? Maybe Sylar got him? It might explain why Sylar didn't come after him in the diner -- because he'd already gotten him earlier. Of course, it doesn't explain Future!Hiro. OMG, I'M SO CONFUSED.

-- Okay, Claire's biological parents. Assuming Mr. Bennet only meant her biological mother died, that means her dad is theoretically out there. And if her biological father is one of the Heroes we've already met, process of elimination due to age and race leaves only three characters -- Nathan, Matt, or Sylar (whose age we don't know yet).

-- Her biological mother had powers fifteen years ago. That's just ... *minds boggles* Why are these people getting these powers now when her mom had them back then? And if Claire was showing signs of some kind of "genetic disorder" back then, did that mean something like she was coming into her powers back then and that was just Mr. Bennet's cover to his wife? See, that's the thing. I don't want to think that Claire's powers have been around forever and she's just now noticed them, but she just might not have noticed it. I mean, did you ever actually think about how many injuries you've had? I can't remember the last serious injury I had, I've never broken a bone and really the most serious injury I've ever had was a seriously twisted angle. Claire's mother even said to her, "Don't turn into a hypochondriac like your brother," which makes it sound like Claire was the kind of kid to forget about an injury as soon as she got it and run off to play while Lyle was more likely to sit around and whine about it. And if Claire checked later and it was all better, how was she supposed to know any better? If her powers have only gotten stronger in the past six months like everyone else's have and she's been relatively lucky for the past fifteen years, it might not ever have occurred to her that she'd have these abilities. (Although it sure as hell doesn't explain why all of a sudden she's a freaking klutz.)

-- Mira seemed awfully grabbyhands about getting at Chandra's research.

-- God, Mohinder is a hot piece of ass, isn't he?

What? That's important! Oh, come on!

And not in that bad way like when I used to watch Lost, because they actually answer some stuff eventually! *flails*

OMG. THOUGHT. Hiro and the waitress. She knew they were tourists and more Japanese than she should. And Hiro went back in time and you see him in her birthday picture.

... *flail* What if she already met Hiro and she was putting everything in place FOR Hiro to go back in time?

What I'm trying to decide is, if Hiro went back to hang out with cute red-head girl, and his picture was there in the cafe with her, then this suddenly becomes an alternate reality where Ando is STILL hanging out in the cafe looking nervous about something.

Like cute redhead waitress still getting killed. Or something happening to AltHiro. Or something.

Time paradoxes suck.

And I still wish I knew if I'm supposed to like Mr. Bennett or not. He's cool, but he's evil, and he's nice, and he's mean, and DAMMIT!

I think he's supposed to be a good guy, but a good guy willing to do questionable things to get a good result. Like, yes, he wants to save Claire, but if he has to give heroin to Isaac for the time being to do it, so be it.

Yeah, I know. It's tough. One minute I love the guy, the next minute he's all "get in there and go Empathic on him, beeyatch," and I wanna smack him around. Tricky guy, but I love it that way.

hey trollprincess I stalk your journal ::waves::
I wanted to contribute a thought on Mr Bennett... If I was told that the only way I could save the life of one of my children was to shoot a junkie up with heroin... well pass the syringe baby! ::grin:: just a thought on his possible motivations and (perhaps) sense of desperation.

Not really a spoiler, I suppose, but had you noticed what the title of the episode after "Homecoming" is?

"Six Months Ago".

I wonder how long ago the waitress's birthday party was.

When the kid showed up, the BF turned to me and said "That's totally Mohinder as a kid." So you're not the only one having that thought, but I like your fleshed-out idea better :)

I was having that same thought. (My mother OTOH thought the kid was Mohinder's sister or the ghost/psychic memory/whatever of same, and I had to point out to her that it looked like a boy to me...)

The thing with Hiro - and I'm surprised that he, the comic book and sci-fi lover, didn't think of this - is that once you change the past, the future changes, too. So if he were to succeed in saving the waitress (damn, I missed getting her name), he wouldn't go back to Ando waiting around while the police compile forensic evidence - because that wouldn't have happened. What I don't know is how they're handling time in that universe. Does it just loop back on itself and everything changes, or are there different branching timelines?

And now my head hurts.

Yup. He may have already, what with the appearing in her birthday party photo thing. And also just by the fact that he's not back with Ando yet.

See, here's my thing with the Mohinder theory. I do think that Mr. Bennet and Dr. Suresh knew each other before he died. They're both in the same very selective field of research (albeit secretly with Mr. Bennet), so their knowing each other is not outside the realm of possibility. Neither is their working together. And the adoption of Claire thrown together with this theory about Mohinder being Sanjog makes me wonder if one adoption influenced the other. You know, like, "He adopted a super kid! Maybe I should, too."

And another thing about the adopted Mohinder theory -- his mother phrased it so strangely when she was talking about Shanti. She said that the little girl died when Mohinder was two years old but that he was never told because they didn't want him to think he was "replacing" her. Why would he think he was there to replace her when he was already there? People don't say stuff like that to their kids when they were either conceived after the death or adopted after the fact.

I was actually wondering if Bennet hadn't done something to make it so Claire's powers didn't work? Kind of like with Matt, etc, how they were taken and now their powers are all wonky. Since I've just stopped bruising out of the blue, I can guarantee she would have noticed. I saw other people getting bruised by the same things, I thought over it, and realized I hadn't for, like, a month. And for another month I've been obsessing over it.
