The car won't start. It went chug-chug-chug and then died.

*headdesk*

I just ... seriously, I can't do this anymore. This is what I absolutely did not miss when I lived in DC and had public transportation available to me, AND why I tried to get my brother on the same shift as me. And I have no money and no way of getting a loan, which makes the situation even more brilliant. I'm so desperate I even had the fleeting temptation to put up a Paypal link, but attempts at small charity make me antsy so I can't imagine what sort of affliction attempts at large charity would inflict on me.

I need to go find out about a credit union tomorrow or the next day, because that's the only other option I can think of right now.

Please, please let it just be the battery.

I won't start crying again, I won't start crying again ...

Seconded. Or if you're unwilling to do that, give us an address for Paypal donations without a link. :)

If you happen to live on a hill and drive a stick, you could push start it... *may have in fact done this with a car with a wonky battery connection for like, three months one time, parking on a slope both at home and at work*

Also, ick. I am currently sharing one car with the husband and there is transporting of children and it is a giant pain in the ass to schedule the car and cope with Times Of Not Having It. Blech.

When I was younger, my brother had a Blazer that didn't have a starter. It was physically not there. I push started that thing 4 times a day for 4 months. We didn't live or work on a hill.

Ok, so i've been reading your journal for over a year, and I finally feel like I might have some valuable imput. I work at a credit union, west coast sadly, but my whole job is to evaluate risk/credit and buy auto loans for my CU. I might be able to give you some advice on getting a loan, possible places/companies depending on your credit that you can try or if a credit union will work best for you.

Just an offer, if you want to take me up on it, my emails in my profile. Buying a car with less than stellar credit can be kinda scary, if I can offer any reassurances or advice at all.....

aww, baby, i know, i know. i've been carless now for about 4 months, with very crappy public transit, but able to barely eek by on the tail end of my savings and student loans while (finally) finding work walking distance away. still, it's rainy and I'm old and meh, I wish I'd saved my money better now.

that said, I've got work now, and soon money, and I'd love to lend you $20 for a year, just for the flow-through effect, yanno?

Aw, I'm so so sorry. I wish there was something I could do, or offer to make you feel better. :(

Just know that I'm sending good thoughts your way.

*hugs you tightly* So sorry to hear it babe. I know how a busted car can just drag your entire life to a halt. Wish there was something I could do. If you do want to put that Paypal link up, I'm happy to chip in.

*wishes spontaneous regeneration upon your car*
