My computer is not registering that my Zen is hooked up to it.

I mean, it is, somewhat. It's charging the battery, and when I plug in the USB cable it dings and asks me what I want to do with it, but then the organizer starts up and it's not even registering it's there. Neither is it showing it's there when I check the computer.

I've tried resetting the player, I've tried switching USB ports, I've tried switching USB cords. Nothing is working, and it's really annoying me because I have nothing better to do until I have to do family stuff and I was going to kill time stuffing the damn thing with the MP3s I hadn't already put on there.

Anybody got any bright ideas about how to get it to work?

This is probably a long shot, but have you tried rebooting your computer?

Uninstall the software and reinstall it?

or how about this: http://193.95.171.84/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE/,/?St=31,E=0000000000181225866,K=4107,Sxi=7,Kb=ww_english_add,VARSET=ws:http://us.creative.com/,Case=obj(19287)

(if the link doesn't work, let me know)

You may need a software or driver update - http://www.creative.com/support/

Good luck!

Thanks! That was my next thought, although I don't have the CD for the software with me so I just figured I'd do it later.

Boy, am I glad I have a few hours to kill now. :)

Yeah, at least you're not in a big rush... don't you just love when something simple becomes a big project?

If you can get into the device manager (my computer, system properties, hardware), you can see if it thinks it's doing anything when you plug it in, or something. I believe that's where you go when you want to uninstall something from a USB port when you want it to re-install, but how that happens is not being immediately apparent to me.

If alelse fails, I'd try open file manager and going to where it is and right-clicking on it and reformatting it through windows and then trying again. You lose everything on the device, but usually it make sit work again if it's non responsive.

And if all else fails, drop Creative a line. They're very good at responding, within a few hours at most is my experience.
