When the apocalypse comes, wake me.

Well, that's another work week down the drain. And -- I can't believe I'm saying this -- I'm angling for more responsibility at work.
God, I don't even know why. I know it's going to be a total hassle and it just means that every time everybody gets sent home I'll still be stuck there. Go figure. BUT it would also mean the occasional respite from working a machine. See, there are two ladies who coordinate the jobs for each side of the plant that assembles CDs. At least one of them has to be there at all times, but they preferably want two available so they don't have to crowd everybody onto one side. That's why they have a back-up coordinator -- to fill in should one of the main coordinators be unable to fulfill her duties. (Heh.)
They laid off one of the coordinators this week but before they left they asked the back-up if she was sure she'd be in the rest of the week so there wouldn't be all this pressure on the one who stayed and they could have two. She said sure ... and then proceeded to take the next three days off. Suffice it to say, they're on the prowl for a new back-up.
The downside? It goes by seniority and there's one person above me who I know would take it in a heartbeat.
The upside? If her doctor gives her the go-ahead, she's going back to printing CDs so fast our heads will spin.
*crosses fingers*
I really want that job, damn it. *grabbyhands*
Also, last night before work I picked up Little Miss Sunshine so I get to watch that later on today. But first a nap and the giggling reassurance that as uncomfortable a time as I have doing research I still could not be nearly as clueless as this.
Oh, and the tentative name for the school-for-villains story is the School of Hard Knocks story, just for my own personal reference. And it's probably going to be adult comic fantasy now instead of young adult, since I'm pretty sure I'm going to go all Addams-Family gory to a wild extreme. And I really need to print off the Evil Overlord List later. HEE.
