See, that's why I like Robert Downey Jr. in spite of his faults ... because he's always ready to make fun of himself. (Unlike some people, Tom Cruise.)

Best Visual Effects ... Pirates! YAY!

God, I love Ken Watanabe. He's fabulous to watch. And now the foreign films montage, which is really damn beautiful. (Dude, did I ever mention how much Life is Beautiful made me bawl like an infant? THIS MUCH.) And Best Foreign Film ... The Lives of Others? Damn, I would have expected Pan's Labyrinth to take it.

HA! Snakes on a Plane! *snickers*

Best Supporting Actress ... Jennifer Hudson! Who looks MUCH better without the jacket and is either full of it or stupid if she thought she wasn't going to win. And I like the speech, but I adore the stunned look on her face as she walked off stage. It's like she's thinking, "I'm so going to call Simon Cowell later on and say, "Suck it, bitch!""

BWAH! "Whether long or short it's what you do with it that counts." It's the eyebrow lift he did after he said that made the comment. Also, tonight he looks totally like someone I used to date.

And Best Documentary Short Subject goes to ... um, a random guy and some woman who's wearing what looks like party favors as spaghetti straps. And hey, I knew she said, "Thank you" at the end without having to guess from sentence placement! Thank you, Firefly! Or The Amazing Race the last time they went to China and a lot of the teams bothered to find out how to thank anyone who helped them.

Ick. Now I remember why I never find Seinfeld funny.

Best Documentary Feature ... two seconds of Jesus Camp and I'm reminded why I'm not sure I could sit through it. And An Inconvenient Truth wins! Expect to see the neo-cons bitch about how liberal Hollywood is tomorrow. Although all this is doing is hammering home how much I love Al Gore these days.

Dear Oscars ... When I mute my TV during the Oscars, particularly during a song performance, that's saying something. My God, people, Celine Dion? Seriously? Have I time-traveled? Is it 1998 again?!

The sad thing is though... I recognized the song that was playing during that 2-second clip, and I was THROWN back to my childhood and how I used to sing that song in Sunday School ad nauseum.

I am scarred YET AGAIN.

*curls up in fetal position and cries*

The one in Chinese thanked a friend. I'm so amazed I managed to remember that. My Mandarin was years ago.

I went to the kitchen and did something, ANYTHING, while Celine Dion was singing.

I muted Celine too.

WORD on RDJ and Seinfeld. One funny, one, not so much.

I think I have a crush on Al Gore now. Sigh.

I muted Celine, too. I die inside a little every time I hear her. *whimpers*

The horror os it is that Celine Dion was supposed to be doing the Ennio Morricone tribute. There are people around the planet stabbing themselves in the ears with icepicks because of the utter travesty of siccing Dion on Il Maestro....

Gael Garcia Bernal said that. He was in Y Tu Mama Tambien and is just generally awesome. :)

And yeah, he's nominated for Best Actor, but he's the longest shot in that category. It really is a case of being grateful for the nomination -- the fact that they noticed his performance in Half-Nelson at all is amazing.

I got the "thank you" too because of Firefly!

I chose Celine's song as a good moment for a bathroom break.

Unlike some people, Sean Penn. I'll never get over him at last years Oscars, or whichever one had him getting all high and mighty after a Jude Law joke.

Didn't you used to be Spicolli?
