Best Actress ... Helen Mirren! Well, of course she is. Oh, hon, you could have left your purse with the husband. Heh.

Best Actor ... Forest Whitaker! Well, duh. Lovely speech, though.

Best Director ... oh, you knew damn well Scorcese won the minute Coppola, Lucas, and Spielberg came on stage. I mean, really. Good for him, though. God knows even his worst films are leagues better than the best films of ninety percent of the directors out there.

Best Picture ... The Departed! Well, I was hoping for Little Miss Sunshine, but I'll take it.

That was, like, the longest ceremony ever. And I'm an Oscar junkie. I only guessed 13 out of 24 awards. I usually do much better. Odd year.

It flabbergasts me to see someone go on television in front of not only every single one of their peers, but a billion people around the world looking too scruffy for most people to allow themselves out the door to go to the supermarket. Does he have a wife? If so she's severely dropped the ball on her share of the spousal responsibilities. It's the wife who's supposed to keep the husband from going out like that.
