Larry the Cable Guy before he learned cable repair. Nice khakis, Larry. I link to this mostly because I've spent the past couple of weeks at work making his new CD at work and if I have to hear one more person expound on how awesome he is, I'm going to pound someone with my tiny ineffectual fists. (Why are there more comedians I loathe beyond the telling of it right now than there are comedians that I adore? Off the top of my head I hate Carlos Mencia, Larry the Cable Guy, Sarah Silverman, and Dane Cook with the burning fire of a thousand angry suns.)

BLARGH. Why am I awake? I only slept for five hours. Granted, I've only slept for five hours at a time about twenty thousand times this weekend (well, it's my weekend), but STILL.

EDIT: Last night's Daily Show, when Jon called the history professor about what John Bolton said about Lincoln? Calls like that are why I <3 that show.

I hate those comedians as well. Avi watches Mencia sometimes and I have to leave the room. Ugh.

You know, way back when he was just doing specials for HBO right after 9/11 I thought he was funny. Politically incorrect and annoyingly loud, but he had some good points buried underneath it all.

And then with the faking his image and stealing other people's jokes and just being a loudmouthed jerk, he lost me and lost me FAST.

Also, the commercials for Sarah Silverman's TV show make me want to hit my TV screen with a hammer.

And then the disconnect from the actual human to the persona. It's ... just not worth my time usually.

Sleeeeeeeeeeeeeeep.

I am working that way myself though the hour seems to be taunting that I am screwed anyway.

You just listed off three of my (semi-)favorite comedians. Mencia cracks me up, and I'm slightly in love with Dane Cook. I've never actually watched Srah Silverman though, but what I have seen I've found funny.

I used to find Carlos Mencia funny a looooooong time ago before a.) it stopped being funny and started just being racist and b.) I found out just how much of his material is stolen from other comedians.

I don't think I've ever gotten why Dane Cook is any funnier than any other comedian. He's not the worst comedian in the world but he's certainly not the best and yet everybody I know worships the ground he walks on like everything that comes out of his mouth floats out on a cloud of laughing gas. Frat guys love him and every hot girl in Hollywood happily leaps into his pants and I DON'T GET IT.

And Sarah Silverman just ... URGH. Those commercials for her Comedy Central show grate across every nerve ending in my body.

I'm not big on Silverman just because she's kind of a one trick pony. "Oh! I'm a Jewish American Princess who tells poop jokes and uses racist slurs on occasion. Isn't it cute?" Blech.

Seconded. Oh, so very seconded.

Silverman's thing is that when she's on stage/screen, she emobodies bigotry and every bad quality in a human being she can for the purpose of making us stop, step back, and go "Dude. That's retarded." and try to fix it in ourselves.

It's a DANGEROUS sort of comedy, considering the world we live in (people have been shot for less!), but I admire her cahones for doing it. The humor doesn't always make me laugh, but I've seen enough of her outside the stage persona to know that she's pretty coo', so the respect is there even if the comedy itself isn't always my thing.

Those are my exact feelings on Dane Cook. I've been hearing about this guy for so long, then I finally got to see some of his routine and... okay. How did he manage to get rock star status with such mediocre material? There was nothing about his act that seemed particularly new or insightful to explain why he's getting his own specials instead of languishing on Top Blend. All of his jokes were pretty standard.

It's the energy he puts into it. It's infectious, especially in live shows. He's just so JAZZED to be there telling jokes that, for a lot of people, his enthusiasm adds a +5 to his Funny score.

The first time I saw him, I was so taken with his enthusiasm that I was laughing too hard to sit up. Later viewings haven't been as good, since I knew what to expect, but man. I miss that first viewing, even if I was a little delusional. :>

Yeah, I havent actually seen Mencia for a while...I usually catch the same rerun Mind of Mencia episodes over adn over and his old stand up routine from like...right after 9/11 or something.

Dane...I dont know...I just love Dane. I think I may love Mitch Hedberg a little more than Dane though.

And I just like Sarah Silverman from the Pam Anderson roast..thats all Ive seen of her.

Mencia has his good points. He went out on the street talking to people about what they'd wish for if they caught a leprechaun.

Then all of a sudden in the background a midget in green walks by.

That was AWESOME. There may have been gleeful cackling and fist pumping involved... I just love it when TDS proves, yet again, what a pack of fucking idiots Bush has placed into office.

I was lying in bed watching TV when he picked up the phone and when she backed him up I started squealing and slapping the mattress.

I kind of wanted him to invite Bolton back and have him whip her out to support his argument like Woody Allen did with that one guy in Annie Hall. :)

That would be brilliant. He was so INDIGNANT with Jon while lying through his teeth, d'you think if the two of them had a fact-throwdown, the top of Bolton's head might fly off?

Do you think if we "anonymously" sent clips of this stuff and Bush's "reasonable proposal" montage to CNN it might get some play in the MSM? *sigh*

I hate Larry the Cable Guy so, so much.

And now I have even more of a reason to! Nice khakis, indeed.

The sheer unrelenting amount of commercials for her show make me not like her so much.

But any show that features queefing as a plot point can't be completely unwatchable.

Carlos (Ned) needs to learn that the word "beaner" is not inherently funny, Dane needs to get genital warts, and Sarah needs a punch in her goddamned throat. "Larry" deserves to have his old routines played big-screen at monster truck pulls. "Saturday! Saturday! Saturday only! Watch Larry the Cable Guy play 'Smear the Queer' with the truck-lovin' public of Macon, GA!"

'So...the president only caters to those who voted for him. And everyone else can go dip their balls in lava.'

I think I hurt myself laughing when he said that. :)

You and me both. :) Not only was it hilarious, but it was exactly what I thought what Bolton said that.

I fucking hate Dane Cook. He is exactly the same as this one guy I went to in high school who's loud, disgusting - yes, funny in person - but a TOTAL dick. His dickishness is beyond belief. And I swear, he and Dane Cook are the same. damn. person. The same. damn. humor. The same. damn. jokes.

I hate all the above as well. I don't mind Dane Cook, but I have to be in the right mood for him. I'm a sucker for standup comedy, so it's rare that I hate any comic, but your list all fits. Fucking Sarah Silverman. -.-

You know, I wouldn't have minded the Cable Guy movie so much if it was about, you know, being a cable guy. What, it isn't funny?

Health inspector? I mean what the fuck.
