Let me just use a simple visual aid. Here is a list of all of the regular doctors we see on a normal basis with all of the names crossed off of those who have:

a.) Engaged in a professionally unethical sexual relationship.
b.) Engaged in a sexual relationship with someone other than the person to whom they are legally married or in an established relationship with.

Dr. Alex Karev
Dr. George O'Malley
Dr. Richard Webber
Dr. Preston Burke
Dr. Mark Sloane
Dr. Derek Shepherd
Dr. Meredith Grey
Dr. Cristina Yang
Dr. Isobel "Izzie" Stevens
Dr. Addison Montgomery-Shepherd
Dr. Callie Torres

Dr. Miranda Bailey

I am SICK of this.

I don't find either of those particular faults just casual mistakes or simple character flaws. I cannot trust nor like people like this. I cannot read shit like this from the Grey's blog:

George. Is. Married. We see George banging the linen closet shelves, Izzie looking so confused, both of them pacing around like caged animals. Izzie and George are so incredibly flawed. But that’s what makes them interesting. That’s what makes them human. That’s why, even though they did a terrible thing, we still love them. And we want to see them get out of this okay. I’m talking about all parties involved: Izzie, George, and Callie.

... and not feel this flare of irrational white-hot anger.

I hate the way Shonda Rhimes refers to George and Izzie falling in bed together as inevitable. Well, that's just great. You know, they can realize that WITHOUT FUCKING. They can talk and have arguments and spend time together and have tension and act the shit out of it and NOT FUCK. Surprisingly enough it's not that hard to keep it in your pants and come to the slow yet confusing sensation that you aren't in love with your wife, you are in love with your best friend.

Seriously, not fucking is not as hard as it sounds. I've done it for the entire twenty-nine years of my life. And I didn't even sprain anything.

That's what pisses me off about this show right now, is that people in the world of Grey's don't break up with other people because they fall out of love with one another or they don't get along or they can't handle it. Almost without fail they break up with the ones they're married to or in an established romantic/sexual relationship with because of someone else.

I just. I can't even.

ARGH.

Why is it that out of all of the romantic or sexual relationships I watched last night the one with which I have the least problems is the one that ended with one partner killing the other one?

*groan* I see I bailed on Grey's before it drove me to murder. Because, *GOD*!

I've done it for the entire twenty-nine years of my life. And I didn't even sprain anything.

You didn't?! Omg, share your secret. The handcuffs I use to lock myself up chafe! *eyeroll*

There needs to be a fandom challenge for normal relationships, I swear to god. Fandom wants to be cutting edge and controversial, that would seem to be where the action's at.

That's why I stopped watching. There's a difference between "some of the characters make stupid mistakes" and "everyone fucks around because it gets ratings!"

I thought - thought - that maybe I would start watching Grey's again. And then I saw the spoilers this last week. Nope, guess not.

I actually made that exact same list in my head last night. Except that mine was a list of everyone who had slept with MORE THAN ONE other character on the show, major or minor. The only people left were Bailey, Burke & Christina, and I've heard that Christina doesn't even fit that anymore. I liske your list better, though.

Then end of the TWOP recap for last week had the perfect bit about why the show is failing. And by failing I mean not living up to its promise. As dictated by me, queen of all the universe or something.

And I don't normally like TWOP, but it just fits.

Oh, I was so very, very tempted to post that paragraph over here. Because, YES. It perfectly summed up the problems with the show.

This is exactly why Friday Night Lights makes me happy despite me not liking the whole Americana and football thing. Simply because Mr & Mrs Coach. A healthy and loving marriage in a tv drama series, imagine that. The same goes for Firefly and Wash & Zoe.

I think you should, because it really, really is the perfect summation of why this show is slowly heading down the track of badness.

Yes! I love seeing that in TV too. One of my favorites, aside from Zoe and Wash, was the Barletts on The West Wing. They just had these wonderful, and even realistic, Husband and Wife moments that I just adored.

This is it:

So, could we just send everybody on this show to Shortbus so they can spend a couple of days having inappropriate sex and then come back and quit it? Because the constant inappropriate sexual and romantic connections and misconnections and the triangles (and every other polygon you can imagine) are ruining this show. I used to love this show because I'd watch these screwed up people muddle through their lives as best they could and at some point in every episode I'd look at a character and think, "That's me. That's my damage, and that's how I can deal with it or choose not to deal with it." But this constant bed-hopping is not me or anyone I know or anyone I want to know. And I don't know if this was Shonda's plan all along (in which case she's not the writer I thought she was) or if she's caught up in trying to please the small but freakishly obsessive group of fans who care about nothing other than shipping this pair or that pair or some other pairing I haven't imagined yet (in which case all I can say is that she will never make them happy and in trying to do so she'll drive away any viewer with half a brain). It's not too late to turn the show around. There are some great writers on staff, and more than a few terrific actors. But this show is not going to get its groove back unless and until Shonda realizes that there are ways to show us character development that don't involve people falling in or out of bed. Okay, rant over.

That's a huge reason of why I just can't stand GA sometimes... there has to be some other reason for people to break up other than someone got cheated on. And, while I understand it is a TV drama and you have a limited amount of actors to work with, not everyone in a group of co-workers/friends are all going to fuck each other. Especially when half of them are their bosses... because some people, even the flawed ones, just don't sleep with their bosses.

I think the problem with GA is that cheating is the One Flaw that everyone has... and it's okay to have flawed characters but they have to have DIFFERENT flaws!

Isn't it though? It's so perfect, DW=Darkwing Duck AND Dean Winchester. Gotta love that.
