Well, that took long enough.

apocalypsos21 things about Heroes that I hold to be my own personal canon.
1. Angela and her husband regularly had pictures sent to them of Claire as she was growing up. They would send the servants away for the night, talk about how happy she looked and laugh about how her looking so much like Meredith meant she probably acted just like Nathan, admire how beautiful their granddaughter was, then burn the photos.
When Peter was a teenager he once found one of the photos they forgot to burn. His father claimed it was simply a mix-up at the photographers and he had no idea who the little girl with the blonde curls was.
Until he found out about Claire Peter thought she was an illegitimate sister but said nothing.
2. Claire never really cared about her biological family until her powers became obvious. Within a week she’d decided her family was really some wealthy family in a big city who didn’t know she was alive and would take care of her one day when they discovered she was alive and needed their help.
Ever since her grandmother opened the door to Peter’s apartment Claire’s secretly terrified that her beliefs prove she’s had another power all this time to make her even more of a freak.
3. Janice is positive that the baby is Matt’s but knows that she made a huge mistake and isn’t above getting a paternity test after the kid is born to eliminate all doubts.
Matt doesn’t care if the kid is or isn’t his, and doesn’t care if anybody else thinks he’s stupid for not caring. That’s his baby. End of story.
Matt’s going to be delightfully shocked when he finds out that his son is the only person other than the Haitian whose mind he can’t read.
4. Nathan loves flying so much he gets a little hard every time he does it. He’s also secretly thrilled that Claire thinks his ability to fly is cool.
However, he could easily give it up for the rest of his life because he’s seen what having abilities is doing to Peter’s life and it’s killing him more than he’ll admit.
5. Ando didn’t become friends with Hiro because he liked him. He was the boss’s son and Ando thought being the only one who would talk to Hiro would help him get away with looking at porn during work hours and slacking off. He’s only started to genuinely like the guy since he developed his abilities.
Hiro knows all of this, but was so desperate for friends he didn’t care.
6. If Chandra Suresh had simply left him alone Gabriel Grey would most likely have turned into a serial killer or mass murderer anyway within the next couple of years.
7. The only time Mr. Bennet was ever afraid of what Claire might do with her possible abilities was when Sandra broke the news she was pregnant.
He totally got over it when Claire smacked Mr. Muggles’s predecessor on the nose for snapping at Lyle’s grabby baby fingers.
8. Linderman’s not as evil as everybody thinks he is. Mama Petrelli isn’t as cold as everybody thinks she is. Hiro’s father is not as normal as everybody thinks he is. Simone’s father is not as dead as everybody thinks he is.
When Linderman says he was betrayed, he’s talking about the other three.
9. Simon and Monty Petrelli both have powers. Only Heidi knows, and isn’t telling because of the election. She thinks it’s her fault they have them because it obviously didn’t come from Nathan’s side of the family.
10. Nathan genuinely likes Hiro more than any other man he’s ever met who wasn’t related to him. He asks for nothing from Nathan except his friendship and Nathan respects that.
Future!Hiro’s one regret after not being able to save Ando is that his friendship with Nathan didn‘t turn into what he thought it would.
11. The Haitian used to give jerks he ran into at bars and restaurants and the like short-term memory loss just because he could.
12. Nathan met Meredith while in Texas on military business. She was pissed as hell when she found out she was pregnant and went out into the middle of nowhere to blow stuff up because it made her feel better, but calmed down considerably when she found out exactly who the Petrellis were.
She put the money Nathan gave her for an abortion towards a really nice crib.
13. Jessica loves Micah just as much as Niki does but has no fucking clue what the hell to do with him.
She really does hate DL, though. He’s not nearly good enough for her sister, even if Niki is kind of a wuss in her own right.
14. Occasionally Mohinder has to stop what he’s doing, take a deep breath, let himself think about the fact that he is studying superhumans who fly and move things with their mind and cause nuclear explosions, and he lets himself laugh hysterically for a few minutes because it’s either that or go fucking INSANE.
15. The Haitian really did make Zach forget he was gay.
Zach will remember by helping that football player recall his occasional stifled feelings for guys when the two of them make out under the bleachers next year.
16. Even though he’s in hiding Claude’s never felt as good about who and what he is as he has since he started living off the grid.
We haven’t seen him in a while because he wasn’t about to stay in town and fry like a chicken on a barbecue grill, unlike some people.
17. Molly Walker got snow as a present for her last birthday thanks to a garden hose and the same snow globe trick Gabriel showed his mother.
18. Peter’s biggest fear (aside from, you know, that whole exploding thing) is that given time he’ll be just as power-hungry as Sylar.
19. When watching sports Nathan roots for the Yankees, the Knicks, and the Giants. Peter always roots for the other guys. Nathan thinks Peter does it to drive Nathan up a wall. Peter does it because there are enough Nathans out there rooting for the Yankees so the Nats or the Reds or whoever could always use one more fan for the night.
Well, that, and it drives Nathan up a wall.
20. Mr. Bennet loves both of his children equally but doesn’t know Lyle a tenth as well as he knows Claire. If given a hundred questions about Lyle and tested about his likes and dislikes he’d fail spectacularly, but if given the same sorts of test regarding Claire he’d ace it.
He feels terrible about both facts, and really guilty that the reason he knew Claire so well was because he had to for his job.
21. Mr. Muggles doesn‘t know he‘s a Pomeranian. He thinks he‘s a Doberman. Never tell him otherwise.
