I know you probably have, but throwing out this suggestion anyhow: you tried doing the little reset thing on your mp3 player? That usually fixes all of mine's quirks.

Well, I was in the middle of trying to reload the firmware when the laptop wouldn't register it, and now the desktop is registering it but not registering it -- I mean, Device Manager says it's there but it's got a yellow '!' on it. And I know there's a way to fix it, I just have to find it.

Last time I had a computer type problem I posted it on Yahoo! Answers and got about four incredibly detailed responses in half an hour, and tried them all. And they worked! It's like some bizarre kind of nerd-helping-hub... and the people are very generous with their responses, I found.

Worth a crack, anyway!
