-- A description of Christian boot camp. I think I'm going to throw up. And hate people a little more than normal today.

-- Project Runway marathon of the first season today. Woohoo!

-- I have maple walnut ice cream and ice cream cones. Clearly I win at something.

-- I've spent the last two days writing down scenes and dropping them in those silly baggies. And continuing to feel like a ginormous dork because of it. But hey, whatever works.

-- Today's the first day I'm supposed to go back to work, and instead I think I'll go to sleep at six and not wake up until ... you know, whenever. Heh.

-- Someone keep me away from my Amazon wishlist and adding stuff to it that's so expensive I can neither afford it nor would want anyone to spend that much on me who wasn't directly involved in my conception and birth. (On the other hand, it IS a wishlist, hence my overwhelming urge to have some ridiculously expensive computer on there at all times.) EDIT: Oh, holy crap, I found a pink laptop. It's like a Barbie laptop! *flails* If one of you wins the Powerball tonight, you'll buy it for me, yes? Complete with a bag of sparkly gel pens and hair clips? And maybe a pony?

Oh, the local ice cream place sold it and for the longest time I kept looking for it in supermarkets before I finally found out that ShurFine sold it through the local grocery store down the street.

Aaaaaand now I want an ice cream cone. Mmmm. :)

So, I was thinking about your "plot baggies" and I remembered a thing we had in school that I think you can maybe buy in education stores...it's a large (blue) plastic rectangle with grommets in the top for hanging and rows of clear plastic pockets. There's probably a name for it, but perhaps it's recognisable from my dubious description. Anyway, I recall using it to play 'Jeopardy' in high school Japanese class and it would probably work for index cards with notes...and it's easy to fold up and put away and rehang somewhere else...

Heh. If I could have afforded to buy anything new, I'd probably go right out and pick that thing up. The tape, paper, and baggies, I already had. :)

I'm sorry, but that is not in any way something that would fit a real description of a Christian school or camp. In that situation, it seems the Christian label was slapped on it so that parents were fooled into thinking that they were sending their children into something appropriate and nurturing. I've been a believer for a long time and everything I put my faith in was revolted by that girl's story. I hate that she went through it and I find it disgusting that people would subject children (hell, anyone) to it. But don't call it Christian, because that doesn't come anywhere close.

faced with a seeimgly insurmountable task, they take the easy way out, shop for a solution like most people shop for cars, and then *BAM* you get a multi-billion dollar industry based upon techniques from the 1920's horror films about being in an asylum.

it's hand in hand with the 'tough love' movment seein goes hand in hadn with this. "spare the rod, spoil the child", too bad they never read the rest of the book.

Yeah, but...

I hate to say it, these days the word "Christian" (tm) is a pretty good indicator that something rotten is hiding behind the label. Just take a good solid look at the GOP.

Not to say that Christianity is bad, but it's... a good thing that's big enough to hide a lot of bad things behind. That's why I'll always trust someone who doesn't make a big deal out of religion over someone who does.

It's always the money!! Being broke and unemployed myself at the moment I totally understand...but I would like to try something similar to your idea for all of my stories - does it take up a lot of space?

Not at all. I used the back of my living room door, so really, if I want to hide it all I have to do is leave it open, and since I live alone and don't have a lot of visitors I don't have to worry about it. :)

It fits four sandwich baggies across and something like eight or nine rows from top to bottom. Right now I've got twenty-six on there and I think I could probably fit about ten more. I just labeled each one with the story name in Sharpie, then every time I put a card in there I make a note -- usually, I can whip up a plot around thirty to thirty-five cards.

It saddens me that you're very right about that.
