I know I haven't said anything about it yet, but Keckler perfectly summed up why I was happy with the winner this year.

You know, I'm happy for Hung. It would have been nice for a chick to win, but Casey clearly fell apart during the final challenge and couldn't pull off the win. I think there could have almost been a draw between Hung and Dale because they're both fan-freaking-tastic, but I have no problem with Hung as Top Chef. He's awesome. He may be egomaniacal, dismissive, and somewhat self-centered, but he's not mean, he's not a bully, and he's not Ilan. In fact, there were even times earlier in the season where he was quite nice and helpful. Remember when he stopped Sara N. from over-buying her beef? And when he was really sad when Sandee got sent home? After reading at Amuse-Biatch about the horrific ordeal Hung's mother and brother have gone through with their restaurant, this is a nice thing for Hung's family. It could even save them.

Besides, the guy gets so dorky over cooking. He fanboys famous chefs, for crying out loud. Something like that is awesomely endearing to me.

No, he definitely deserved the win. I just hated the way he always talked smack about people. Always. It was like the only thing he could think to say in front of the camera. But he could have been much more obnoxious, it's true. And he was an insanely skilled chef. Well done for him.

True, but to be fair the people who produce Top Chef and Project Runway have a really bad habit of drumming up drama out of nothing and, according to a lot of the contestants, asking really leading questions in the confessionals. I'm not saying he's not kind of a putz, but really, how many times do they ever show a contestant saying, "Boy, that other guy's dish was so much better than mine", as compared to showing them saying, "His dish was just a complete mess"?

Then again, maybe he should try to be a leeeetle more of a culinary snob. "The judge obviously didn't have a refined enough palate to eat my Smurf village!" (Doesn't that sound like a great insult? Eat my Smurf village! Heh.)

I'm holding out a little bit of judgment on Hung for the reunion show next week. I think I'm hoping for a bit of a Stephen-esque turnaround, where he shows up half-drunk and sprawls all over Lia or CJ or someone and apologizes for being a douche.

I forgot about the reunion show! I generally watch these shows during the marathons, which never include the reunions, so it didn't even occur to me. That would be fantastic. Until then, though, I'll consider Hung a talented, decent enough guy who'll just never be as awesome as CJ. Very few people are, so that's hardly a crime.

*snickers* I'm really hoping CJ wins the Fan Favorite cash. It'll probably be Tre, which would be cool, too, but CJ is the hot funny one, damn it. :)

I still can't get over how FAST he cut up those chickens in that challenge. MAN! :D

He was just ALWAYS bitching about everyone else. But he was extremely skilled and it was okay that he won! :)
