Heath Ledger's dead?! Says so on CNN, too.

Oh, holy crap.

Oh, his poor little girl. Maybe that's why I'm welling up? Um. *wibbles*

EDIT: I had to ramble at somebody about it, and I couldn't very well shriek, "WHAT?!" at the cat, so I just called my brother's cell phone and went on about it for a couple of minutes. Which ... he doesn't care. I'm going to get a phone call later saying, "... so?" *sigh*

I just saw that, too. It felt like someone hit me in the stomach, because it was just so UNEXPECTED, you know?

Christ. *sends good vibes towards the ickle 'un*

I know, right? I tried to call my brother to tell him because I was THAT shocked, knowing full well he'd be like, "And I'm supposed to care because ...?"

I KNOW!

I'm gonna have to watch The Brothers Grimm tonight. Oh, jeez, seeing Batman is going to be so bittersweet now.

Holy hell. Only 28 years old, and he had a two-year-old and a skyrocketing career. You just have to wonder what went wrong.

I find it interesting (and maybe just a tad telling) that all the US-based news agencies are saying it's possibly drug-related, while the BBC doesn't mention that at all.

This has been an awful month so far, hasn't it? Man.

I was just thinking, "First Brad Renfro and now Heath Ledger? Who's the third?"

I don't WANT a third, damn it. For some reason, this one is making me cry.

well, Suzanne Pleshette died on Sunday so maybe Heath was third - of course she was much older and ill so it's not quite the same

I came online and like the first ten entries on my flist are about this. I didn't believe it until I saw it on TV just now. I don't even know how to comprehend that. I don't know why I'm crying, I only love him for one role and I barely know anything about him, but talk about random.

'Surrounded by pills' sounds pretty obvious, but I don't believe it. He talked about his daughter like she was the best thing in the world. Maybe he had an allergic reaction? God this is awful. I'm shocked as hell.

This is just awful. I was going to go read, but I just keep stalking ONTD.

I feel terrible. His kid...it's just awful. I never would have expected an OD from him. I hope it was accidental. I really do.

Not to mention Dark Knight is going to be a painfully sad movie to see for everyone.

I'm stuck on his daughter, too.

She's two. And she was one of those celebrity babies that seemed like she'd be okay because her parents are level-headed and awesome. And... dammit.

I haven't seen LJ as a whole this upset about a celebrity death in a long time, which actually makes me feel kind of better about how hard this is hitting me right now.

I still can't figure out WHY it's hitting me so hard, which is the weird thing.

In an odd way, I'm kind of grateful that it is.

It's just ... he was so young, and he never gave any impression that he might be suicidal or on drugs, and he's got a two-year-old little girl, and he was just starting to display that amazing talent, and it's just out of NOWHERE.

I'm still crying. Jesus.

I think it had to have been accidental.

He had a gorgeous daughter he obviously loved more than life itself. His career was starting to seriously take off /and/ de-pigeonhole (thank you, Brokeback Mountain, for getting that ball rolling). He had a masseuse appointment.

You don't make an appointment for a massage if you're going to OD. That is not Earth logic.

He seriously had an appointment for a massage? 'Cause that's definitely not the kind of thing you do when you're planning to OD.

Yeah. They came up to tell him the masseuse had arrived, and that's when they found him and called for help.

But if Ledger was depressed, which I believe (based on my friends who've lived with depression) may have been the case, then he might not have been working from Earth logic either. Depression can be like having an alien in your head, skewing your whole view of the world. I can't know; it would be slightly less horrible if this was a horrible accident. Seems strange that I'm hoping for that, but again, the less-horrible thing.

I wish I knew concrete answers. Of course, I wish he'd not died in the first place. The whole thing just makes me sad. He does seem like one of the good guys.

Have you seen photos of her? 'Cause she looks exactly like him. And the thing about that is it's giving me flashbacks to Kurt Cobain dying, and how everybody couldn't stop talking about Frances Bean and how much she looked like him and oh, God, I'm falling right back into high school again.

I think the reason it's hitting us all so hard is because on that list of people you expect to go at any minute he was NOWHERE near it. I mean, he didn't seem like the guy to have really any problems. Apparently he needed sleeping pills after playing Joker though because of that mindset so... Maybe it's really accidental in a "trying to sleep" way and not a "trying to die/get high" way.

Date: 2008-01-22 11:32 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] apocalypsos.livejournal.com
I know, right? With all the misbehaving, hard-partying, drugged-up messed-up young actors and actresses Hollywood turns out, he seemed like a Good One. *sigh*

I'm seriously doubting it was intentional at this point. He had a massage appointment, for crying out loud, and I can't see anyone who's intentionally trying to OD letting enough pills go to waste for them to be scattered all around him when they'd found him.

Date: 2008-01-23 12:18 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] clex_monkie89.livejournal.com
You didn't even hear about him getting drunk on New Years or anything like that.

According to ONTD news reports are already calling it accidental and saying there was no suicide note. I know it's not very reliable but I'm inclined to believe it... Well. Because I really want to.

Jesus. I'm just stunned and speechless and completely shocked, and I can't even explain why. I mean, I liked the guy, but I wouldn't have expected to be so sucker-punched by his death. And yet...I can't stop saying 'oh my god'. It doesn't seem real.

It's really kind of messing with my head. Me and one of my managers had a wft moment about it at work and talked about his movies that we liked, and how he was the last one we'd have pegged to od on something.
