I literally just now watched this on some completely random person's journal. Uh, it might have made me cry.

Wow. Um.

Almost makes me wish I was American, and that's about the highest praise I could possibly give it. :P

(Are they all celebrities? I only recognised Scarlett Johnanssen and Michael From Lost.)

OK... that's the first time in a very long time a politician has made me cry in a good way. If he didn't have my vote before, he's got it now.

Seriously, he doesn't even need to budget TV commercials- just make sure that video gets airplay, and he'll have all he needs.

That was beautiful.

I think my favorite bit was "There has never been anything false about hope."

Hm. I was tickled at the presence of an Hebrew speaker in there (anu yecholim), but making the coalition of diversity there overwhelmingly black and white, with almost no Hispanic or Asian representatives, felt a bit off to me. That said, it was uplifting as hell, an Obama specialty. I think you can choose either Democrat right now and not go terribly horribly wrong...I just wish the polls would show them with a better lead over the Republicans.

There was one guy on there, who pumped his fist and shouted "Si se puede!" So there was at least one Spanish-speaking person on there...

That's Adam Rodriguez from CSI Miami. There's also Enrique Murciano from Without A Trace, an older Hispanic woman towards the end, and the younger Hispanic woman seen singing a few times throughout the video whom I don't recognize. There's also Kelly Hu, who's of Asian descent, and Eric Balfour, who's of Native American descent.

It's not exactly a lot, but I wouldn't call it almost none overall as far as participants who are neither black nor white.

I am now a mass of tears, dripping snot all over the place.

Thank you for that.

(They got a signer in! I couldn't entirely keep track of who everyone was, but a signer! *bawls*)

I could swear that's the sister on Jericho. It certainly looks a lot like her, and she is deaf in real life.

Wiki says that's--the sister on Jericho, I mean--Shoshannah Stern, who is, just from the stub, quite awesome. Yay!

The video on YouTube has a list of people in it next to it (though they're missing a few and repeat one). Quite a diverse list they're pulling in.

Hmm. I have mixed feelings about this. On the one hand, it's an obvious emotional spiderweb designed to gain sympathy and votes, and I don't have much respect for that. The main criticism I've heard directed at Obama (beyond "NO EXPERIENCE ZOMG," which doesn't count as a valid criticism to me) is that he speaks with very vague inspirational language instead of offering solid views and ideas, and this video basically defines "vague and inspirational."

On the other hand, all of the candidates are using vague terms at this point, and this is the kind of thing that's going to get him votes. Sigh.

(To clarify, I am very much an Obama supporter. It's just that these kind of tactics, which is what they are, rub me the wrong way. I suppose all politicians have to employ the skill of tearjerking at some point. Insert tasteless joke regarding Clinton crying here.)
