What do you mean, "Unknown precipitation"? It's February. It's Pennsylvania. It's four degrees outside. How many guesses do you need? It's not like there's a large selection of options. "Well, I think it might be actually raining cats and dogs, but God help me, I just can't be sure!"

Maybe they've been listening to the Weathergirls too much?

Oh, I like it when the weatherbug is pretty much like, "Partly cloudy, with a 60% chance of APOCALYPSE! High 2, low -4, precipitation: ROCKS."

Sweet hoooome Chicago.

Usually I'd expect the term "winter mix" to be deployed when the weatherpeople aren't sure what kind of frozen water will be falling from the sky. But mostly I'm just appalled by the temperature readings -- lows below the 20s are incredibly rare in Dallas, and generally a really cold winter's day by local standards will still have highs in the 40s.

Oh, today was ridiculous. I left the house even though when I did I'm pretty sure the temperature reading on Yahoo said something like 1 or 0 or something. And with the wind chill it was -4.

The bright side? Tomorrow it will warm up to a high of 22. The down side? That's because we're getting a snowstorm. Eh. I'd be more bothered if I had to go to work tomorrow or Wednesday, but I'm good until Thursday (unless I'm lucky enough to get laid off for another week) so let it snow, let it snow, let it snow. :)

Rumor has it that snow flurries were sighted one Friday a month or two back, but I wasn't one of the people who saw them. We tend to get snow in Dallas about twice a winter, and we're delighted when it sticks because the whole damn city shuts down because the only people who know how to drive in that mysterious white stuff are transplanted Yankees anyway.
