apocalypsos: (let's touch willies)

I've been thinking about this lately but [livejournal.com profile] foxxydancr made a comment yesterday on my Verbotene Liebe post (nothin' bad, honest!) that made me think about it again.

I know there's a lot of people who just aren't into slash out there. Not that they think it's gross or evil or that the people who write it are going to Hell or anything, just that it's not their thing and they're perfectly okay with other people liking it. I know there's a few of you on my friends list who would much rather read gen or het and avoid slash although they have no problem with it.

Here's what I'm wondering. I keep posting the Christian/Olli clips to my LJ because I really do love the storyline, and it's really good writing, and two boys or not it's just a fabulous romance. Part of the reason I keep posting the clips is because I really do want to squee about them with people and get more people to watch, because there's so much wank out there lately and this is (so far) a pretty giddy, happy fandom. I know the slash people are obviously open to the storyline, but I keep wondering if the het and gen people are giving it a shot, too. I know a lot of the het-and-gen-only folks are turned off because the homosexuality/bisexuality isn't canon, but maybe if it were? *bats eyelashes*

Okay, okay. I know. But it's getting so GOOD. *flaily hands*

Is my whining working? Even a little bit?

EDIT: Homigod, the German version of today's episode is up! *bounces off to see how I can figure out from facial expressions and hand gestures*

OTHER EDIT: Oh, those Mann boys. Oh, my fucking heart. *swoons* (Yes, I know the clip's in German. They're THAT fucking good. I think I'm going to cry.)

*

It just cost me thirty-two bucks to fill my gas tank from top to bottom. Still the least out of everybody I know, but that's just enough to get me back and forth to work for one shift. *sigh*

*

I had another story idea last night that hits a couple of my kinks HARD. Granted, I still haven't written the first two chapters of the other two new ones, but still.

I think I need to get my writing mojo seriously jolted. Honest to God, y'all.

I’m one of those het and gen people. In fact, I’m primarily a gen person, when it comes down to it. Which is to say, I primarily read fic to see the aspects of a character developed more, delved into, brought out. I don’t need any kind of relationship to see that. I find that sometimes the fic that’s smartest about the characters is gen. Which is why I like it.

Which isn’t to say that I have a problem with het, or slash—if there’s good character development, I am thrilled to read it.

I just like reading fic because I love the characters and I want to spend more time in their heads. I don’t care who (or what gender) they’re banging.

Does that make sense?

Perfect sense. At least to me. :)

*lurker wave*

Just wanted to say that I'm super glad you post Christian and Olli stuff; I read your lj fairly frequently, and like seeing it here. One of the nice things about dabbling in fandom is seeing the reactions of other people; if you stopped posting, sure, I could watch on youtube, but I like seeing your take on things, you know?

*bashful lurker waves ... Hi ... *

I am one of those people who never responds to what you say, mostly because I tend to agree with you (especially politically). You amuse me to no end. The thing that always sticks with me about your profile is that you flat out remind people that this is your journal and you will write what you want. So it's interesting to me that you are asking for opinions at the moment. Not a bad interesting; just interesting.

You asked a question; I have a little answer. I've only just caught on to a couple of the clips you've posted, mostly because I just can't do soaps. I tend to hide from romantic anything. Lifestyles don't bother me in the least; growing up in the theatre and living in Europe taught me early on that people are just people, you know? But I enjoy seeing the clips popping up, even if I don't watch them on a regular basis, because you seem to get such a joy from them. I don't read any of the fandom type stuff either; I keep hearing that there are things that I'm supposed to care about that I just can't bring myself to read (I couldn't care less about any actor's personal life when it's none of my business). In the midst of all the negativity that is still finding its way around me, I like seeing you get so giddy. It's one of my biggest giggles.

So while my opinion probably doesn't count for anything, you did ask, and since it's probably the people who aren't squeeing with you who you're looking to answer here, I thought I'd pop in. One of these days, I may just get around to watching them anyway, even with that icky romance thing it has going on. *snerk* Post away. I get a kick out of it anyway.

Also, I meant to say this to you the other day when you were still talking about it, but I got distracted. With your book run you had going a couple of days ago, I thought you might find this amusing.

A ratings system for books (and those of us who can read) wouldn't do this person any good whatsoever. I think we're still safe.

Anyhoo, back to my dark, quiet corner of lurkerdom. Thanks for always keeping me (and many more) entertained! Squee away!

yeah, i totally got into the storyline because I was looking at the one clip when you were writing about cultural differences (and man, the american approach is LAME) and I just wanted to know what happened. I'm not usually into slash - but that's more because I struggle with my position on fanfic in general.

also it really HAS helped my german! we were actually discussing some phrases in class the other day that came up in yesterday's clip! and they take off their shirts!
