The homophobia is so scary-sad. :( I once spoke to a woman online who was so afraid of being labeled gay that she railed against women holding hands, having ranted to her young daughter about two women she had seen on the street. I asked her if she ever held her mother's hand in public. No, she said - people might think she was gay. So damn sad.

I made sure to tell her that I held my mother's hand, my daughter's hand, and the hands of my friends in public, and somehow, that hadn't yet made me crave hot lesbian action. (Though Mom & I did have a guy make a nasty remark to us in the grocery store one day. Should have seen his face when Mom kissed me on the cheek.
