Those are story notes.

Maybe if I stare at them long enough, they'll just turn into a finished novel.

Very interesting. How did you organize that?

I know the feeling. I'm having the same problem.

I print out all the little bits and pieces of scenes I've got written so far -- the first column is short summaries of the chapters I've got written -- and then arrange them in order exactly how I want them, then fill in the bits I still have to write and divide them up by chapters. :)

I find I have an easier time of it when I put all that stuff up on the wall like that. And I really do have to print out photos of the actors/actresses/famous people/whoever I based all the characters on, too.

Wow, I should probably try something like that. I can never stay organized though. How do you discipline yourself, a chapter a week? I'm sorry for all the questions, I am just working on something right now. I guess it could be a novel if I work on it enough and I have a beginning, a sort of middle and an end.

Well, it's supposed to be two chapters a week, when I'm not outrageously blocked. I'm hoping putting it up on the wall like this and seeing the big picture will help.

If I try to write from start to finish it never quite works, so I just let myself write whatever scenes pop into my head and then string them together later. And usually I just write the dialogue first and write in the action later, so this way I can sketch out the bare bones of the story and then do these huge word dumps later on.

Impressive progress, if that's the blank paper you photographed just a few days ago.

I'd say that amount of notes deserves a finish, yes :-)

And it reminds me to get to work again on one of my own ideas...

Yeah, that's the way it usually comes together for me as well. Thanks!
