When you give up on ATWT and only follow it through AfterElton's liveblogs, and follow Verbotene Liebe loyally for months on YouTube, and then one day they're having a Closer marathon instead of showing Law and Order on TNT so you figure, "What the hell?" and watch ATWT just for the hell of it ...

Well, let's just say I should have started drinking an hour or go to prepare.

EDIT: Okay, look, this is the second time -- Brothers and Sisters was the first -- that I've seen a character on TV talking about starting or actually starting "a charity that gives the families of sick kids someplace to stay while the kids receive treatment." Just in general, not naming one or anything.

Hasn't anybody on TV heard of the Ronald McDonald House? Seriously?

Oh, God, it's SO BORING. The only thing that happened with Luke and Noah today was Luke's homophobic bio-dad sent a letter trying to make amends by offering him his inheritance, and all told it was maybe three minutes strung out over an hour, like:

Lucinda: Damian's offering you your money!
Luke: I don't want it! *stomps out*
Noah: *follows* Here, have an iced coffee.
Luke: I don't WANT the money.
Noah: You should take it.
Luke: Okay!

And Holden and Carly aren't a thing yet -- they did sleep together at the girls' summer camp which, EW -- but she's running off to France for a couple of weeks with a scrawny Englishman and Holden's about to chase after her. Ew.

Also, Jack's maybe sleeping with the OMG SHE'S SO SPUNKY mother of Brad's illegitimate prom baby. Or whatever. Ugh. *yawns*

Oh, and Allison's a brunette now. And new Lily's stupid.

Nope, he's his adoptive dad. Lily was married to Luke's bio-dad Damian Grimaldi for, like, five minutes but it turned out everybody in his family was fucking insane (IIRC) so to keep Luke safe they got a divorce and Lily went off and hooked up with Holden.

When Luke came out of the closet, Damian either was already around or crawled out of the woodwork -- can't remember which -- and shipped Luke off to anti-gay camp. Or wanted to. I'm seriously rusty on my ATWT history, can you tell? :)

Wait. I thought, when I heard that Lily's actress was leaving, that they were writing out Lily. This is not the case? And are they doing the dumb soap thing of a plastic surgery or whatever, or they doing the even number thing of not acknowledging it at all?

McDonald's is very, very protective of its trademarks, so it's no shocker that the actual name of that charity isn't mentioned on TV. But acting like it doesn't exist and this is a great new idea or something is weird.

Yeah, both times it's seemed like they make it out to be this great idea which popped up out of the blue which ... yeah, Ronald McDonald House is kind of well-known. There are lots of other things sick people and their families need if they're so keen to make up a charity.
