My mom is voting!

No, you don't even know, you guys. She's never voted in a presidential election. EVER. And I didn't think she was going to vote in this one, either, because every time she's heard me make bitchy comments under my breath at political commercials and complain loudly about Sarah Palin she's just kind of sighed like she does when she's bored.

Except this morning she was telling me, "Oh, do you know where you're voting?" and I kinda had to restrain myself from saying something stupid like, "OMG YES AND I'M GOING TO TRY TO BE FIRST IN TOWN AND O HAI THEY GIVE YOU STICKERS!" so I said, "Yup, and do you know where you're voting?" and when she said, "Uh-huh," my brain skidded to a stop and I was like, "... wait, I was kidding."

Her precise words for why she's voting in this election when she's never voted before in any other election? "I don't want John McCain to be president." BWAHAHAHA. John McCain got my mom to vote for the first time ever and it's for the other guy. *dies* (Hey, it's not the optimal Obama-fanboying my brother has been doing the last few times I've talked to him, but it's a Pennsylvania vote for Obama so I'll take it.)

(I should probably add that my dad isn't registered to vote, which is why he's not voting for Obama. But I imagine he would, since his response to Bush coming to Scranton that one time was that he had better things to do, like clip his toenails. My family is full of dirty liberal hippies. Heeee.)

... um, HI. I may have eaten an entire SweeTart Squeeze before I left work today. *twirls like a spazz*

*

Also, I may have taken overtime for tonight, too. But it's okay, see, because I'm sitting in the internet cafe right now so that I can work on my NaNo. I plotted out a few scenes last night at work and everything! \o/

Okay, yes. Me ... with the writing. *scurries off*

I wish I could go be the first at my polling place, but I doubt I'll be able to roust Yael out of bed and get her dressed that quickly :(

::wants it to be tomorrow very very badly::

Well, the downside is that I'm going to try to accomplish it by working all night and going directly to my polling place at seven a.m., but STILL.

I'm gonna go to the Ben & Jerry's scoop shop that I used to live down the street from and use my sticker to get a free scoop of ice cream after work that evening. XD

I...probably could be the first at my polling place, but it would mean being late for work. I wish we got stickers where I am. *sniffle* I'll just have to settle for the joy of participatory democracy.

Yay!

By the way, if you have a Krispy Kreme and a Starbucks, you and your mom can get a free donut (KK) and coffee (Starbucks) with your "I voted" stickers.

That? Is awesome. XD I'm looking forward to and dreading tomorrow.

I know the lines will be murder, AND I live/work down the street from McCain's offices, so I'm anticipating a media frenzy. There's already been a memo circulated at the clinic where I work that Fox News is going to be camped out in our building and parking lot all day long. XP

I wish I could just skip work, man. XP

I'm in the same town (technically a county) as McCain's other offices: Arlington, VA.

I am wondering if the entire LOTR trilogy is a long enough book for the line I'll be waiting in tomorrow...

Have you seen this? 'Cause I think it deserves to be seen. I had to pause it to laugh a lot - both because I laughed a lot and because I didn't want to miss any of it while I was laughing. ♥

That's awesome.

I'm curious whether Biden's Scranton-origins will have any influence on your neighbors' votes!

They still give you stickers where you live? It's illegal where I am, cause it's considered incentive. Which is apparently wrong. I don't know why.
