-- So far, no flurries. I'm taking this as a good sign (knock on wood) because all it has to do is hold off getting bad for three hours and I'll be back home chugging hot chocolate.

-- I find it hilarious that it made the front page of Yahoo that Aaron Rose isn't coming back from Argentina when the show returns. Woohoo! It takes a lot for me to say, "God, Serena should break up with that guy and hook back up with Dan," because, seriously, I hate Dan. I can write better than that guy and he expects to get into Yale. HA. Hahaha ... no.

But, yes. Apparently even the PTB were like, "Jeez, Aaron sucks," and canned him. Of course, this is according to Kristin so then again, he may end up coming back and taking over the show, 'cause I'm just that lucky with Kristin spoilers. She also made some throwaway crack about, "Will Cyrus leave, too?" and I think I may have welled up at the possibility. Nooooo! It's Wallace Shawn! He makes Eleanor tolerable! Blair likes him! No takey, he's theirs! Hmph.

-- Alone among major Western nations, the United States has refused to sign a declaration presented Thursday at the United Nations calling for worldwide decriminalization of homosexuality. Stay classy, America. *headdesk*

-- An interview with Kristin Chenoweth on AfterElton. 'Cause she's so awesome and adorable and weeeee.

-- I'm horribly tempted to start a writer's group. And actually DO it this time, as opposed to those other times I've said I should and then not followed through. I don't know ... I think I need accountability right now in the worst way and I know I'm not the only one who could use someone standing over their shoulder with a ruler and a mean expression to make sure they get their goddamn book finished.

-- I keep looking for screeners of the movies that are getting nominated for stuff to show up because at the rate the movie theater's around here are getting them in this year, I won't end up seeing half of this stuff until after the Oscars.

Well, we only constitutionalized sodomy a few years ago. This isn't exactly a shock.

And if you think Obama's going to be an instant relief, think again. He's more progressive than Bush, but he's not all the way there, either.

It's one thing to deny gay marriage or not support hate-crime legislation or allow discrimination. It's another to suggest that it's a crime to be gay.

Which is what the anti-sodomy laws pretty much did. You can't outlaw being something, but you can outlaw an act that's closely tied to being that something...like sodomy for homosexuality. Not a perfect fit, for many obvious reasons, but it's what they had.

Again, the Supreme Court only struck down those laws a few years ago. And it wasn't an anonymous decision. Given how long it takes ideas to percolate culturally, I'm not the least bit shocked the U.S. has declined to ban the criminalization of homosexuality, because until that decision, that's what we were doing.
