If they not only do this, but pull some, "Oh by the way, John left the boys alone a lot so he could sleep with a lot of random women because that was just how bad a father he was!" I will have to beat things with sticks.
I know, I shouldn't worry that far ahead, but if they're honestly considering this I won't put it past them.
