Okay, look.

I have something to say about Michael Jackson. 'Cause something about him is annoying the piss out of me right now.
I don't know whether or not he's guilty this time. I do think he's a freak, but if that's a crime, imagine how many jails this country would have to build.
However, I do think he's being an unimaginable prick this time.
Why?
Close your eyes.
Imagine you're a little kid. You're having a pretty normal life, just hanging out with your friends, playing baseball, whatever. Then one day, you go over to a family friend's house for dinner.
And the bastard molests you.
Of course you're uncomfortable, and embarrassed, and afraid you'll get in trouble. So after much consideration, you tell your parents. And thank God, they believe you. They call the cops.
You're thrilled now. Scared, but thrilled. This man who did this horrible, terrible thing to you is going to jail. He's going to go away and never come back, and then you hear that he may have done this to some other kid and you're even happier. The bad man is going away.
And then, one day, you turn on the TV.
And there he is.
He shows up at the courthouse, and there's a crowd there, cheering him on. He smiles, he waves ... he's even wearing makeup, for crying out loud. And then, just when you think things can't get any worse, he gets up on top of a car and dances.
If this were any other man being accused of child molestation, the public would be outraged and disgusted.
Whether or not the charges are true, the fact that anyone accused of this crime, guilty or innocent, can be allowed to behave like this deeply disturbs this.
Because while we're playing the pretend game ...
... if you were being charged with child molestation ...
... and you were innocent ...
... would you act like this?

Date: 2004-01-18 03:56 pm (UTC)This man is not a man, he does not possess an adult mind, he is genuinely unaware he has done anything wrong. His behavior strikes me as less audacious and more childlike than anything else. He wasn't dancing on that car out of sheer hutzpah; he was dancing because it seemed to make them happy and that's the limit of his intellect. He really is that irresponsible.
If I were a manager of such a lucrative but scarily unwitting rock star, you bet I'd do everything in my power to keep it under wraps, else why haven't we seen a single person say, out loud, "can we have a psychiatrists POV on this one, please". There have been plenty of interviews... and yet.... No one asks.
It's like half the people think he can do no wrong and the other half just want to thrash them because a hot topic is involved. Like their brains are just shutting down because he's "famous" and "invincible" and no one wants to even allow the possibility that he may be genuinely mentally handicapped.
He is now in a lose lose scenario, and yeah, I feel sorry for him. It's possible he molested those kids out of sheer arrogance. It's possible he's just being attacked with a hot button accusation. But it's the behavior of everyone around him that shames me.

Date: 2004-01-19 06:44 pm (UTC)But I quite seriously think the guy's lost it. He should be rolled up by the little white men, put in a (criminally, perhaps?) insane institution, and see how much he likes big men sharing his bed.
And if I were charged of child molestering I would probably
laugh and say I was more likely to kill the little bastardsgo home after the trial and tell the kid not to make stuff up again. And ask them why they made it up. Cause if I were innocent I would be damned pissed off, and talk to the parents.
