So I figured I'd drive down to Denny's to see if I could get that free Grand Slam breakfast they're giving out today from six to two. I didn't think I'd get in considering I left the house at eight, but I figured, what the hell?

The line reached out the door into the parking lot and was starting to lean towards wrapping around the building.

Aaaaaaand that's why I'm at Panera right now sitting next to two businessmen who look like they're on a date.

EDIT: There's something endearing about the fact that the two very well-behaved little kids at the table next to me are perfectly happy eating their bagels and looking through the cooking and architecture books from the seventies they seem to have acquired from somewhere.

I considered going in for a breakfast-for-lunch buuuuuuuuut no. I don't think it's worth even driving over there to see.

On the plus side, it's doing wonders for all of the restaurants near Denny's, it seems. A lot of people are just shrugging and heading somewhere else. Most of the restaurants around here looked busier than they should be for a weekday.

That is good news. Any boost these days has got to be a HUGE help.

I LOVE well-behaved kids. I just want to hug them (and their parents). I'm weirdly PROUD of them, even though I'm not their parent, because it's just great to see that kids know how to not be obnoxious.

I was at the mall the other day, and a little girl, like... probably 4, was kinda weaving in and out of the crowd, looking around. She knocked into my sister, and her big brother (who couldn't have been more than 6), took her hand and said, "Be careful! And say sorry." And she did! And they wandered off together, holding hands. SUCH CUTENESS.

AWWWWW. *hearts*

The best was when the mom took the little girl to the bathroom, and the little boy was there alone, and a lot of kids would take that as free rein to be brats but he just sat there quietly and read his book. He didn't even fidget. I just kinda sat there quietly thinking, "\o/".

That's usually when I lean over and compliment the mom on her parenting techniques or just tell her how awesome her children are.

They're giving out rainchecks according to the article I read.

Well behaved children are a beautiful thing.

We decided it wasn't worth getting up early for; we saw the line when they were giving a free breakfast to just military members, never mind the general public.

Well-behaved, self-entertained kids are a wonderful, wonderful thing.
