So let's do that meme where you tell me what you would have me write if you could make me write anything.

Nothing fannish, please. And no jokey responses ... I'm totally serious here.

I think you should do something on the inherent post apocalyptic nature of life in a declining factory town in the middle of a recession.

Because lets face it, there are zombie infested wastelands that are more put together and functioning than Detroit.

Being a Detroiter, I was going to get all offended and say "Nuh-UH!", and then just shrugged and said "pretty much".

Fun fact: There are still dirt roads in areas of downtown Detroit.

You have an excellent deadpan voice, and are an excellent straight person as evidenced in your movie reviews. Therefore...

Artemis, the virgin goddess, is sent to Earth to see why people aren't worshiping the Greek Gods anymore. She therefore tours the world. Let's you combine deadpan humor with whatever plot you want.

I'm in a Firefly sort of mood. Mal/Simon, with Jayne uneasy about it, Kaylee trying to be supportive, and River curious.

How about something simple, just a little scene? I love the "strangers in a bar" trope and I wouldn't mind seeing something like that with two unexpected characters.

NINJAS! No srsly. I have a hardon for Sci-fi/martial arts/ninjas-save-the-universe fiction.

It's my favorite escapist braincandy.

I love your sense of humor. I'd love to see a short story about an alien whose ship crashed on earth and he's trying to find parts.

Maybe told from multiple points of view from people in a small town interacting with it...trying to figure out what's wrong with him and coming up with all sorts of goofy (and wrong) conclusions.

I'm always in the mood for a good apocalypse. Or steampunk romantic comedy.

I'm going to add to the chorus for "Apocalypse!"

Because if anything is your medium it's smoldering piles of metal & surviving the next wave of shambling undead.

zombie_survival. Real LJ group. Totally awesome. Learned lots of logical stuff. Like don't go out of the way to kill the one lone zombie just because you can.

Werehyenas. I'm actually serious here, because oh, the ways it could go, not least because hyenas are three (or four, if you count the aardwolf) very distinct species, with utterly different breeding and socialization habits, so that half of it would be interesting and I think you could write something that's serious about the right bits and funny in others, something that-- well, that knows how to use Paranormal Romance Clichés 12 through to 1267, rather than be used by them. And something that doesn't have romance/male/female stuff that's vaguely (and worse, unintentionally**) skeevy.

I think it would be different, but still... well, comfortable, in the way that I want that kind of thing to be, with people that I want to be together. I want there to be romance and bad guys and good guys, but I also want that bit of... I don't know, sincerity? Truth in characterisation? That you don't always get in a lot of fiction. and I think you could do it.

*Really different, all the subtypes, if they hunt or scavenge more, if they're solitary or hunt in groups...

**Worse, because at least if it's intentional, the writer knows it's not right.

Well, if you're familiar with Xander from Buffy, I vote an AU where he gets sent to J2 Vancouver.

Third Winchester brother, anyone?

Because we all know Xander can act -- he'd been acting like the Zeppo for years. And then, you know, there's the possibility of Hyena!Xander going all "My mates~ Boys smell good..." over Jared and Jensen. And there's also the more than likely hilarious-as-crap first meeting where Xander lays eyes on Jared for the first time:

"Holy FUCK. Did your mother mate with a Fyarl by any chance? Coz, you know, they always make me feel less like a man, and I'm feeling pretty.... man-less right now."
