"Earthquake" is on?! How come no one tells me these things? When I get rich and famous, I'm going to hire someone specifically to inform me when '70s disaster movies are on TV.

I'd better get back to the TV before the scene where the elevator crashes. Oh, for the days when the horrific end to an elevator falling to its squishy demise was a can of obscenely bright red paint flung at the camera. *swoons*

P.S. George Kennedy is some kind of superhero. Never tell me any different.

P.P.S. You know, I should go to Borders for that Make Your Own Box Set Sale. I could buy "Earthquake", "Towering Inferno", "Poseidon Adventure", "Airport", and "Airport '75" and call it the "You've never seen Superman and George Kennedy/Steve McQueen/Gene Hackman in the same room, now, have -- okay, so maybe I should shut up" box set.

P.P.P.S. *snerk* Hmm. Perhaps we've learned it's a bad idea to have a swinging wrought-iron chandelier in the seismology institute.

Earthquake was much better with senseround. Of course, it cracked the walls of the theaters, but it was pretty darned cool!

One of these days, I'm going to build my own private theater simply to turn up the volume and listen to it with the Senseround. And also, to see Charleton Heston's steely jaw in life-size proportions.

What scared me most about "Earthquake" was that Genevieve Bujold walks around for the entire movie in that godawful pink-on-pink outfit. It's only in recent years of watching the WB that I figured out that her character must have moved to Kansas, changed her name, and bore Lana Lang, so obviously things turned out all right for her in the end.

Well, except for surviving six earthquakes only to be squished by a meteor, but still.

I heard Bujold almost became Captain Janeway but had a snit fit and was booted off...

*laughs* A wrought iron chandelier in a seismology institute? I bet they call it their back-up seismograph.

Oh, the best part is later on, when they set up an emergency hospital for earthquake victims in a place with more wrought-iron chandeliers, brick columns, and windows apparently made out of candy glass. Because apparently, the plaza made entirely out of toothpicks and razor blades was full up.

"Poseidon Adventure"

I once counted how many times Ernist Borgnine yelled 'Claire!' when his wife fell to her death... But I can't remember now how many times it was. Somewhere between 15-20 I think...

And no one say NUFFIN against Poseidon Adventure *glaires* It was the best desaster movie ever.
