When you find out that your former manager went off on the boss, the boss's boss, and the boss's boss's boss for firing reliable people who can do their damn job and do it well instead the ones who've been there forever and STILL don't know how to run every machine there, and that she continually cited you and your best friend as examples of people who should NEVER had had their jobs eliminated.

I should make her cheesecake. :D

I'm in management and trust me, we hate when this happens. The problem comes from a)unions, b)age discrimination lawsuits and c)fear of ticking people off because the older workers have "paid their dues".

We try to get around it by moving people into departments that are stronger and likely not have as many layoffs, but it doesn't always work.

Congrats on the compliment though, a good work ethic is much more rare than we would like to think.
