I am stuffed full of mini-pierogies and kielbasa and I am on my third Smirnoff. Clearly this is not a good day if I'm resorting to Polish food and my favorite alcoholic beverage to feel better.
The bright side is that maybe I'll get lucky and pass out after the new SPN so that I won't be tempted to read anybody else's reaction posts. I love this season, flaws and all, and it's depressing me that a lot of people don't and that liking Castiel, in the right circles, is apparently equivalent to wanting to set Jared on fire, shove Misha into his spot, and plead not guilty because of the unfortunate insanity that's driven you to enjoy the holy tax accountant in the first place. I mean, to each his/her own, but I'm really starting to think that the way I'm starting to feel about being in this fandom is the reason why I'm blanking on my Bigbang and probably won't end up writing anything at this point. I am just not in a happy place with this fandom, you guys.
On the plus side, thanks to the Danneel wank, every time I hear "Friday Night" by Lily Allen, I'm just going to picture Danneel being kickass and beating the crap out of fangirls. Dude, I didn't even LIKE her before this. (I didn't hate her, either. Mostly I just thought, "Oh, honey, I don't envy you THAT job," and ogled her boyfriend. Other than THAT ...)
SO. I sat down today to write in one of the three stories I've got open on my desktop ... aaaaaand I ended up starting another one I probably won't finish. FML.
I'm also downloading the first season of Leverage. I already saw most of it that one day there was that marathon, but I want to catch up with the rest. I already know I loved it, I just ... you know, have gaps. :)
Oh, yeah, and I managed to download Drastically Redefining Protocol onto my MP3 player, which is exactly what I didn't need to do if I ever want to get anything done. Le sigh.

Date: 2009-04-02 11:12 pm (UTC)And I'm right there with you on SPN. I've mostly been enjoying this season but the post hiatus eps have not thrilled me and even though I like the overall good vs evil arc, I'm wishing we were seeing a more balanced view of it instead of it being all about the angels.

Date: 2009-04-02 11:24 pm (UTC)It's one reason I've withdrawn more and more to my own little corner and my own group of friends who also like this season and are having fun talking over implications and stuff.
That is where I get my squee these days.

Date: 2009-04-02 11:27 pm (UTC)I know several people who really like Castiel, and for them, he's just as interesting as Sam & Dean or even more so. I don't agree, but I don't think those people are irrational idiots. They're smart, cool peole, and clearly, if this position is as widely held by such people as I think it is, then there's something going on either in terms of lackluster writing and/or acting for Sam & Dean or terrifically awesome writing and/or acting for Castiel. I lean toward the former, but to each her own.
I don't feel like the fandom is any more fractured this season than in past seasons where we had the annual kerfuffles over the badly conceived female characters. This time, the kerfuffle is over a male character who's better conceived than the female ones and looks all the shinier due to the poor execution of the main characters' storylines.

Date: 2009-04-03 12:09 am (UTC)Maybe we should have meetings?
I've somehow... left SPN fandom, without really noticing. I have some folk who are still involved who link me the Good Fic, and I hear about all the drama, but oh god SPN fen are SO CRAZY sometimes, and EVERYTHING is a crucial, world-ending opinion. No thanks.

I dunno where the hell you hang out, but come to my little Corner Sandbox O'Obliviousness. Drama-FREE, y0. *pats spot nearby & grins encouragingly*

Oh god, you too? I've got it on a thumb drive and I've been reading it over and over the past 2 days at the clinic as I work.
