Random stuff for today
Apr. 17th, 2009 01:13 pm-- Today I'm supposed to take my mom's cat to the vet for a check-up after his dental surgery last week. Now, they removed his teeth, but while he was at the vet they shaved his butt. My mom wants me to ask the vet why that is. Apparently my guesses that "maybe they just took the long way" and "perhaps Owen asked for a bikini wax after you left him there" aren't satisfactory.
-- I went to the cafe before, settled in with a pot of tea, and got the first three chapters of GPW edited, even though I still have to update the edits in the file. This could be a good way for me to get this done, though. Also, the Chinese restaurant opens tomorrow. Yesterday while I was at the cafe, one of the Chinese guys from there came in for pastries and when he confirmed where he was from, the cafe staff and the customers practically fell over themselves to say, "YAY!" Oh, good, I'm not the only one in this town thrilled we're getting a Chinese place.
-- The Family Feud moment discussed in this blog post is such epic fail I can't even ... I can't ... flames, on the side of my face ... What gets me is what somebody in the Pandagon post mentioned, which isn't so much that he believes that Ellen Degeneres doesn't like this country for whatever reason, but that he thought there were enough people for it to make the top reasons on Family Feud.
-- 5 Gourmet Foods That Used To Be Cheap -- I heard the lobster thing a few weeks ago on some documentary about Maine (it might have been a rerun of "The States").
-- Someone explain to Spencer and Heidi that they don't warrant a "secret marriage." I hate those two.
-- Nate Silver explains why maybe we should just let Texas secede. Heh. I changed my mind. On second though, let 'em. *pets the new map of the US* It's so blue.

Date: 2009-04-17 08:39 pm (UTC)That being said, I don't see secession as happening -- that was just Governor Goodhair (tm Molly Ivins, and we all miss her as a Texan we could be proud of) playing to the crowd.
