You know, I haven't had a TV since I moved down here, but for some reason, I'm sorely tempted to get one this weekend to watch The 4400 next weekend. I've always been touch-and-go on alien abduction stuff, but give someone supernatural powers and I'll give anything a chance.

Besides, after reading the official site, I started speculating on stuff. )

In the same vein, yesterday I was at work and somebody was shipping this thing that I was absolutely dying to keep. As far as I could tell, it was a computer monitor, a flatscreen TV with a built-in DVD player and VCR, a digital camera, a phone, a private airplane, a Transformer, a helicopter, and quite possibly a compact thermonuclear device. Every time I passed the box, I kept whimpering as if I did it enough times, the Great and Powerful Electronic Device would have pity and take me home with it.

Also, the VA Lottery is up to 280 million dollars, and I have a ticket. If I win, everybody on my friends list gets a pony. And maybe some gum. Okay, and maybe a car. Matchbox all right with everyone?

EDIT: Nick Lachey is going to play Phoebe's love interest for six episodes on Charmed next season. My brain, it hurts.

ANNOYING BROTHER-IN-LAW OF EDIT: Note to self ... two fics to write this weekend. The weird crossover you might have to pick up the DVD for, and the movieverse fic that's all [livejournal.com profile] zeelee_penguin's fault for making you think up when you read that Rogue/Pyro fic.

MUTATED WAILING FREAK LIVING IN THE BASEMENT OF EDIT: If you want to kill time today, go read some X-Men Movieverse fic. With fifty-some stories, you'll be there a while.

Hi, my name is [livejournal.com profile] trollprincess, and I fangirl the apocalypse. But you knew that already. What you didn't know was that when I was browsing through the DVD racks at FYE today, I found a copy of The Day After and squealed out loud.

This, mind you, while an employee was standing right next to me. It's easy to explain a squeal when looking at Pirates of the Caribbean or A Knight's Tale or any Lord of the Rings movie, but it's kinda difficult to explain mindless glee over finding a DVD of a twenty-year-old TV movie featuring nuclear war and Steve Guttenberg.

I simply had to have it. I've never actually seen it (dude, I was six when they showed it on TV) but for fifteen bucks, I won't even care if it sucks. You know, just as long as there's lots of dead people when it's over.

Also picked up a few extra clothing bits -- underwear, a pair of khakis, a couple of tops -- and a pair of sneakers and a pair of fuzzy-soft tangerine flip flops (because the shoes were "buy one, get one free" and those tangerine flip flops love me). Then I stopped at the Hoffman AMC and picked up my Spider-Man 2 ticket for tomorrow. Since I got the last of the first showings, I won't even have to wait in line outside. (Although I will have to wait in the theater if I want a good seat, but as long as I bring my Alpha Smart and my minidisc player, I can kill all sorts of time.)

Now, if you'll all excuse me, I'm going to curl my hair and watch the planet get nuked.

Who do you picture when you read my LJ? Whose face do you associate with my words? I know I've posted self pics, but I've seen pics of other people on my flist and still tend to associate other, more famous, faces with them.

So who is it? Go on. I'm curious. I want everyone to answer. Now.

(Just disregard the "I've posted pics of myself" bit. 'Cause, well, I haven't.)

Also, am halfway through the movie. Yay, panicking hordes screaming and flailing their arms in the streets! I wonder if I win any prizes for knowing how they screwed up radiation poisoning and that thinking you'll be able to survive a nuclear winter with two weeks' worth of food is laughable. (And is it sad that I recognize the stock footage of nuclear testing from "The Atomic Cafe"?)

You know, after this I might have to have a "Terminator" marathon on Sunday just to remember what decent nuclear special effects look like. But still, cheesy apocalypses are fun! :)
