apocalypsos: (squeeworthy moment)
So last night at work we were making Rilo Kiley's new album (I think it was their newest one), and on the second page of the book there was a photo of a pretty hot transvestite, albeit with a hard-to-miss crotch bulge. I had shown it to a couple of people (What? Aside from the obvious crotch bulge she looked really good) and was in the middle of showing it to one of the techs when Operator Asshat kept saying, "That's your type of guy, right?" You know, as if she was trying to embarrass me.

I just shrugged and said, "Well, hell, it's not a prerequisite, but it definitely ain't a dealbreaker." I also said something about helping him do his hair and paint his nails if he were really nice, which she gave me weird looks for. Good.

A nice hot guy wants to fuck me AND borrow my clothes? My only complaint is that there aren't many guys small enough not to stretch out my clothes.

So I think the whole college thing will be just the thing to spur me into getting a new damn job. For one thing, my work won't do tuition reimbursement unless it's work-related. Granted, one of the tracks I've been leaning towards is IT, but still. It would mean staying there and that's just not incentive to do it. (One of the other tracks I liked was for medical sonography, which sounded like something I could handle based on what a girl I knew who majored in it in college told me. Plus, I knew I was a sick puppy when I was reading over the suggested course schedule and was like, "Hey, this looks pretty neat -- "Fetal and Neonatal Anomalies"! That sounds awesome." Er, perhaps I should lay off the Discovery Channel. Heh.)

For another thing, a good old-fashioned day job would make it a hell of a lot easier to schedule around. There's also a weekend program at one of the local schools that's pretty good (that's how my mom got her degree), but obviously a four-on-four-off shift gets in the way of that. There's also the added bonus that I've never actually had a real first-shift job with weekends and weeknights off so maybe for once I could actually see first-run episodes of shows I like without having to record or torrent them. \o/

Okay, yeah, this college thing? Vaguely surreal the second time around. :)

I was voting in the Tubey Awards on TWoP and got to the Best Tearjerker, read "Hilda finds out about Santos," and promptly burst into tears. Uh, winner? HEE.

Huh.

apocalypsos: (job well done)
In the last few weeks I've gotten the laptop situation mostly tied up, gotten the landlord to fix the electrical outlets that have been fried for a couple of months now, ordered the glasses I should have gotten months if not years ago, cleaned my entire apartment and kept it clean for a record two weeks now, and started looking into going back to college again.

What this has taught me:

1. I really DO get more shit done when I make to-do lists.
2. The closer I get to thirty, the closer I get to turning into my mother.

EDIT: Those Sharpie pens are so pretty I've barely even used them yet. I just open my purse sometimes and look down at them and sigh happily.

Operator Asshat asked yesterday if that was really all I needed to make me happy. Yup, that's about it. :)
