These are the Kevin and Scotty clips from last night's new episode of Brothers and Sisters. (It was last night, right? The last new episode, anyway. Whatever.)

So there's rumors going around that the company is shutting down our division of the plant next month. Which, great. And in the realm of impeccable timing, the position that I applied for two months ago in another part of the factory -- one which would probably still be there even if our division were cut -- just opened back up again. Albeit on another shift, but it's on day shift and I'd have something one step closer to a normal schedule. (Honestly, the possibility of a layoff isn't what's bothering me so much as the timing seems to come right after the company picnic at Hershey and game day at the local Yankees farm team which, yes, please, encourage us to waste a bunch of money and then lay us off. *sigh*)

An important note about apocalyptothon:

I'm currently knee-deep in making sure that everybody gets what they want and since I'm in the middle of my shift I'm already exhausted. So I'm pushing ahead the first draft deadline to August 15th and the final draft deadline to September 1st.

I'm almost done, though, so there's that. :)

(I'll almost done with the assignments, but I want to send out the submission emails all at once so everybody gets theirs pretty much at the same time. Plus, I'm a big paranoid idiot and I want to double-check and triple-check everybody's assignments before sending them out.)

That both sucks on toast and is more awesome than a big plate of bacon.

So the spn_j2_bigbang prompt list for the artists is up, which depresses me because I really did want to get the story done in time.

On the other hand, OMG YAY. Fic! More fic! Long fic! WINNER.

I'm taking what I've got done of the story and the next two chapters I need to finish for my novel with me to work tonight. Who knows? Maybe I'll luck out and actually get some work done. And since I don't want to get swept up in something I can't put down on breaks I'm leaving Phyllida home and bringing the new history book I got today with me. (I really do have to review the damn thing when I get done with it, because there are some things I really, really like about it and some things -- okay, one thing in particular -- that really bothers me.)

I need a purse for work that's big enough to fit my story notes, a notebook, pens, aspirin, gum, my lunch, earplugs, and a paperback, isn't a bookbag, and isn't the one that says "f*ck" all over it. Hmm. I'll have to keep my eye out.
