There's a job fair at the place where I really, really, REALLY want to work today.

This would be the place where they have work-at-home positions available, which I would really love a chance to get so that I don't have to drive down in the winter when it snows, which I hate. They also work a regular day shift schedule, which would be awesome. And it's data entry, and if I remember correctly they've got a lot of overtime available, and also Jess told me they have a gym in the building.

I'm so hoping I get this one, not the least of which because I'm developing a serious case of cabin fever here. It's exactly the kind of job I've wanted since I moved back, and I know a couple of people who work there -- Jess's brother and a woman we used to work with at the last job, and God willing I can do a ton of overtime so I can pay off my car and replace the old laptop so I don't have to use the netbook all the time and maybe even get an iPhone.

*crosses fingers*

I didn't perform last night at the comedy club. I did, however, talk to my brother about it, and he said just get there earlier next week and they'll put me on the roster.

So I've got a week to develop a routine to the point where I won't forget it after a Smirnoff or two for courage. EEP.

It's officially the Fourth of July! The Twilight Zone marathon has started on Sci-Fi! Granted, it's the '80s episodes, but still!

(OMG, is that wee little Scott Grimes in this episode? HEE.)

I wasn't home last night so I didn't get a chance to watch it as it aired, so here's the good ones I could find on YouTube:

-- Hairo Torres, a breakdancer from Oregon. He's amazing and ridiculously bendy, and easily the best video I saw from last night.

-- Pam and Viva Martin, a dog act. PUPPY!

-- The Lake Houston Performing Arts Center, a kids' dance troupe. They're pretty good, although I doubt they'll get much farther than the semis.

That's ... about it. Apparently last night I didn't miss much.

So I went to the job fair today with Jess and another friend, and I feel pretty good about my chances for a few reasons, although admittedly that's just because out of the three of us, I think I'd hire me. I was the most dressed up, I was the only one who brought a resume along, and I was the only one of the three of us who has any customer service experience, which I've actually got a lot of (telemarketing, fast food, Suncoast holiday temp, DHL) so I was the only one who could even answer the questions during the interview.

They're supposed to call back in a couple of weeks either way, but I'm hopeful because my resume's decent, I made it clear to the interviewer that I was open for anything, and my references are good. Here's hoping. The hours are decent enough and the only thing I'm bothered by is that while we're training I might have to take care of inbound calls, which telemarketing burned me on.

Ugh, I just want a damn job already.

In other news, I've killed the last hour or so updating my Amazon wish list. I figured what the hell, my birthday's coming up in a few months, and I'm pretty sure I'm not getting anything on that list anyway, especially since I went full "wish" list and put stupidly expensive stuff on there too, but I like window shopping on the internet and this gives me somewhere to keep my pretend pretties. :D
