I'm having a bit of a selfish moment.

I want a tarantula.

I waaaaaaants it.

The thing is, I saw a lovely little invertebrate terrarium at Petsmart yesterday when I went shopping for chinchilla supplies. It had pretty much everything in the box save the tarantula, crickets, and the cricket supplies. The cost? Ninety bucks, which after stocking up on chinchilla supplies is not within my price range.

UGH. It makes me all pouty, because all this talk of possible new pets made me think, "I've always wanted a tarantula." And I have, and a terrarium with one in it would be like my version of a fishtank (I'm not a fish person as a pet owner; it doesn't interest me, and frankly just makes me crave seafood), and it would be nice and calming to have on my computer desk, so of course I can't really afford it right now, or at least doing it up nice, which means it's just not worth doing at all, really.

I could always wait until tax returns roll around, but I'm not holding my breath on that count, since I'm pretty sure I'll be attempting to get myself an iPad. Maybe. Or maybe I'll be a grown-up and just pay bills with it.

Aw, man, FML, honestly.

*pouts*

I may have gone out and bought a tarantula.

Its name is Toby.

Oh, and I got to hold a boa while I was there.

Also, the pet store guy tried to see if I wanted a big old black scorpion and words cannot describe how much NONONONO was involved there.

... yeah, and then I took a giant spider home, so where the hell do I get off?

Apparently Mondo's family were there to support him at an episode 10 viewing party and benefit at which Michael C. was the special guest host and lunch with the both of them was auctioned off the Colorado AIDS Project and Rainbow Alley.

There is nothing about that sentence that doesn't make me want to clap my hands with glee.

Adventures in being a crazy cat ... er, pet lady.

Me: *wakes up from napping on the couch*
Otis: *is sitting on top of my closed laptop staring at the terrarium and cricket container*
Me: "OTIS! Get down! You're not supposed to be up there!"
Otis: *stares at me all intrigued*
Me: *has terrible fear the cat will knock over the tarantula's terrarium*
Otis: "Look, Mama! Noisy bugs!" *stares at crickets*
Me: *terrible fear lessens considerably*

How do people believe and/or defend anything this d-bag says?

I would ask you to decide: Are we freeing slaves? Or are we creating slaves? That's a question that must be answered.
