I just had a terrible, terrible thought.

So let's say Adam Milligan notices his dad's stopped calling and he can't get him on the horn and after a while of getting no answer he decides to check the internet. And he searches for "John Winchester" on Google.

And the first search that pops up in Google is for the Supernatural books. So he looks them up on Wikipedia and, heeeeeeeeey.

And then Adam discovers fanfic.

THAT fanfic.

And that's how Adam learned he had brothers ... two horny, horny older brothers ...

... I'm not right in the head, I think.

Possible handwave: He googles and what he turns up is a post where someone actually connected the dots and commented that these two RL hunters named Sam and Dean Winchester seemed unbelievably similar to the fictional duo? Maybe even someone previously featured in the series who'd been rescued by the Winchesters and then was shocked to run across a "fictional" retelling of the very events that had transpired, and hence started interacting with the fandom, going on about their "batshit claim" that the two really existed?
