-- What the fuck is wrong with people?!

-- No, seriously, what the FUCK is wrong with people?!, SPN edition. If I behaved like that in public, my mother would find out somehow, wait until I was within range, and smack me HARD. And I'd have earned it.

-- David Carradine was found hanged today in his hotel room in Bangkok. Oh, God, that's terrible.

-- 20 Brilliant Bookcases *grabbyhands*

-- This Is The Way The Culture Wars End. An interesting piece with a lot of good realistic points about the abortion/gay marriage movements.

-- The 6 Most Terrifying Medical Malpractice Cases. GYAH.

-- 25 Notably Trippy Kids' Shows

-- How About An Animated Movie With A Female Lead Who's Not a Princess? I could certainly stand for that.

-- Sigourney Weaver Tops List of Sci-Fi's Baddest Women For the most part it's a decent list, although the io9 pretty much points out the exact weak points I spotted as well.

-- 20 Feminist TV Characters I think my biggest problem with the list is that it only includes characters who openly declared themselves feminists, which is great on some level but restricting on others. The comments bring this up in a subtle way -- don't complain about there only being Caucasians on your list of TV feminists when you've kept, say, Claire Huxtable (or, for that matter, Rudy Huxtable) or Miranda Bailey or freaking Uhura off just because they never put out a neon sign.

-- I haaaaaaaaate the Black-Eyed Peas new song. Which of course means they play it ALL the time on the radio. *sigh*

-- I'm still floating on a Make Me A Supermodel finale high. Is that bad? :D (Those three BOYS. Remember last year when the boys were behaving like absolute twits at the end? And this year we get woobie!Branden getting all choked up over his mom on the runway, and Sandhurst and Jonathan just share this LOOK and go over to give him snuggles without saying a word. AWWWWW.)

-- I need a GIF of Heidi sobbing on I'm A Celebrity and I can't figure out how to do it off Hulu or the NBC site or whatever and it bothers me. Urgh.

-- I walked all the way up the hill to my parents' house (seven or eight blocks, forty degree angle or so) and nearly gave myself a coronary in the process. Good times. *headdesk*

That's one of the reasons why I don't really like going to conventions or why I never bother celebs when I see them in real life. Because I know I'd hate being bothered in that way, so I just leave the poor people alone!

And those bookcases are making me drool.

OMG that con report post makes me ILL.

I don't know WHY the boys even bother doing cons anymore. The fans are inconsiderate and rude and unappreciative.

When I read the intro to the article about feminism, I started to understand why they made that choice. It's interesting to see trends in characters who self-identify as feminists.

Yeah, i found out about the Pixar thing a few weeks ago, and while it's likely to be good, and heartwarming and all that jazz, since it is still Pixar my teeth grinding has increased.

I don't know if you've seen Up but I actually thought the story would have been better served if the kid had been a little girl. Anyway. Effing Disney/Pixar. They're so out of touch with their own ideas. After forcefeeding little girls Miley Cyrus and pretty pink princesses they think the kids won't like anything else. Maybe if they gave them something else to like, catch 22....rargh.

Not. Pleased.

I had heard about David Carradine being found dead, but not that he was found hanged. That's awful. :-(

How About An Animated Movie With A Female Lead Who's Not a Princess?

Off the top of my head, Quest for Camelot and Mulan come to mind, and then on further reflection there is Ferngully, Lilo and Stitch, Alice in Wonderland, and I'm sure there's at least one I'm forgetting.

Which is not to say the article is not absolutely correct. The Princesses far outweigh the non-princesses (even some of the cooler princesses sort of belabor the point...) and it does get really, really old for those of us not inclined toward Princess-ness...

zomg. the trippy childhood memory that is read all about it *grabby hands* They showed that to me in SCHOOL. As part of CLASS. It's hardcore trippy and damnit if I can't remember the theme song by heart. I rather liked it :)

(I also liked today's special. but Read All About it was special. lol)

The convention thing just makes me wince. People are ... gah.

Ever see the glare-of-death Claire Huxtable had for Elvin every time he uttered one of his sexist comments? If that's not a "neon sign" I don't know what is!

Totally on the shallow end of the spectrum, but the 20 cool bookcases thing? So cool! The tangram one rocks my socks.
