According to Newt Gingrich, "I think this is one of the most critical moments in American history. We are living in a period where we are surrounded by paganism." God, I wish. And seriously, Newt, first you guys can't stop spazzing out over fornicators of all ilks and now you're resorting to paganism? I'm not going to be burned as a witch, am I?

A bit of advertising: [livejournal.com profile] vivian_shaw started a disaster write-up blog, What Went Wrong.

I need to finish chapter 19 and start in on chapter 20. Maybe I'll pack up after chapter 19 is finished and head up to my parents' place. At least they have a porch I can sun myself on as I write.

Oh, Newt. Failing to grasp the concept "SHUT UP while you're behind" since the mid-90s.

Surrounded by paganism. Mhm. I'm a Wiccan living in Massachusetts not far from Salem and *I'm* not surrounded by paganism! I wonder where Newt's going.

It's true. There are pagans everywhere. They display idols at the front of their places of worship, consume blood and flesh, follow men dressed in strange costume, spend hours each week chanting en masse, feast together on Wednesday nights, and have strange practices like bringing a dying tree into their house at winter solstice.

I'm talking, of course, about MITHRAISTS.

--oh, sorry, what? Somebody co-opted that religion out of Rome two thousand years ago? What are they calling it now?

THAT CAKE WILL GIVE ME NIGHTMARES. CAN'T SLEEP PASTRY WILL EAT ME. >:(((

Being surrounded by paganism sounds kinda nice to me. Except that people are inevitably buttholes and eventually it would devolve into "my paganism is better that yours" rigmarole that sounds awfully familiar me right now too.

The first island in the article gave me Jurassic Park 3 flashback. And I want to try the haunted one.

That depends. Do you weigh the same as a duck?
