Yay! I don't have to write fic today. I've decided that I'm giving myself a day off and then it's off to work on Chapter Five.

Urgh ... I just realized yesterday that Valentine's Day is this weekend, and now my brain hurts. You want to hear something sad? I've never had the occasion to celebrate Valentine's Day. Not once. Never gotten flowers, I think I may have gotten candy once but it goes to show how memorable that must have been, and special little Valentine's dates? Yeah, right. (Did I mention I didn't go to my senior prom? Yeah. Mmm-hmm.) I can't decide whether I'm going to go the "I choose me!" route this weekend and take myself out on a goddamn date, or if I'm going to get it through my thick skull that the "I choose me!" routine is antithetical to everything I stand for and just have myself a "Terminator" marathon to watch shit blow up.

And why am I willingly watching "Practical Magic"? Did I do something wrong I don't remember doing?

EDIT: Michael McKean is going to be the new Edna Turnblad in "Hairspray" on Broadway?! Aw, maaaan. I want to go see. *whines*

First: "The Terminator" got me through my high school freshman homecoming QUITE nicely...in the theater yet. And while I was dateless. And while my best friends made out with their boythings on both sides of me. Loudly. Therefore, an entire "Terminator" marathon with NO rude 14-year-olds making out loudly on either side can be nothing but good - particularly with peanut M&Ms and popcorn with far too much artificial butter-flavored grease.

Second: "Practical Magic" is good the way "The Craft" is good, except Fairuza Balk should have won an Oscar and Sandra Bullock should have won a kick in the rubber parts.

Third: I heard about Michael McKean and therefore am forced to hate everyone who has a chance to see him in "Hairspray." But I thought he was doing the show on the WEST coast? I could be wrong.

...an "I choose me" date to a Terminator marathon in the privacy of your own home? Ideal.

dude, that's me too. i've never celebrated valentine's day (unless you count those lame parties in grammar school) & i didn't go to my senior prom either.
i would hate valentine's day more if i didn't wish so badly that i could have a reason to celebrate it.

as for the choice, i'm watching my all time favorite Goodfellas. and maybe some buffy episodes to remind me that i could have a boyfriend that went all evil & killed my friends.

...there's a Valentine's Day Massacre party just 30 miles west of Detroit in Michigan this weekend. And at midnight on Val Day, I turn a year older. You should come!
And then we could all line up like the scene from AIRPLANE and take turns flogging you with whatever's handy for all the wrongness that you've inflicted on us over the years.

On second thought, maybe that'd be a bad idea. The flogging, not the you coming to be my birthday present.

I think I'm at least gonna take myself out to dinner after work. And then collapse on the couch and watch something, probably the three seasons of X-Files I've ordered in the past couple days....If they're here by then....if not, then I'll probably dig into season 1 of 24.

Hmm, yeah, Valentine's Massacre Day was Saturday, wasn't it? I hit the gym and then came home and read most of the day, and then I think knit and watched DVDs. I'm there with you on never having had a SO on Valentine's (except once, and my then-boyfriend was a stoner spaz who never even mentioned the "holiday," let alone gave me anything). And I went to both my proms dateless -- thankfully, my school was really laid-back about that, (so long as you were junior or senior class, since the underclass folks obviously needed an older date to get in).
