Was it ever anything other than 'voting for your mate'? That's a depressing thought.

The ability to a) read, b) stick to a well thought out speech, and c) sound as if he understands the content, isn't a prerequisite for the job?

Maybe they don't realise his speeches go longer than the sound bites they pick up on the news.
