I'm going to say Lucifer absolutely did not send Sam and Dean away from the from the nunnery.
He said to Sam, "Why do you think you were there?" If the whole point was to bring Sam to the chapel so he could take him as his meatsuit, why would he then sen dhim away so he had to go to plan B?
And I love when villains promise to not lie. Makes them more fun.
