I have my car back! So I decided to finish what I started and made a Wal-Mart run after work to pick up groceries and a couple of other things I needed. (By the way, I've decided I adore the new scale I picked up, because while one at my cousin's said I was 159 pounds and the one at my mom's claims 157, this one says I'm 152 pounds. AND it zeroes at the two-pound marker. I think it's just kissing my ass because it's cheap and it's new here, because I definitely did not lose five pounds in one day.)

Speaking of ye olde diet, it's going pretty well, quite frankly. It's not so much diet as it is cutting out all of the crap, buying the low-cal, low-fat and/or low-carb stuff, keeping portions down, drinking mainly water with the occasional hot tea, and spacing my meals at regular intervals. I get one cheat a week, which has actually been working out way better than I thought it would. I haven't had an entire soda since the day the car broke down almost two weeks ago (that, and a candy bar -- I needed both that day). Last Tuesday, I had half a small styrofoam cup of Pepsi and gave the rest of the bottle to the woman in the cubicle next to me, just because work was going so slowly I caught myself nodding off and desperately needed the jolt. It was maybe about a third of a cup, but it worked like a charm. :D

The only junk food I picked up today was a bag of Cheetos and a six-pack of those wee little Pepsi cans. I currently have no desire to have either, but I'm saving them for my weekly treats, which I'd schedule for Thursday nights but ... well, with SPN on hiatus, I might as well not worry about it for now.

Also, this morning I did forty-five minutes on the treadmill (I only stopped early because I hit the snooze alarm a few too many times this morning) and hit almost all of the weight machines (some of them I'm just too short to use comfortably no matter how you adjust them). I don't know when the hell I turned into a bit of a gym rat but now if I don't go I get all twitchy.

Oh, and did I mention yet that there were layoffs at the place I work? Not me, thankfully, and no one in my department, either -- our department and customer service are vital to keeping the company running, so we'd be the last ones laid off, really. That said, it hasn't exactly instilled a lot of confidence in the vast majority of us, who are still temps on contract until the end of March. After that ... eh, who the hell knows?

On the writing front ... well, let's put it this way. If I finish the chapter I'm currently editing tonight, I am officially caught up to where I'm supposed to be. Meaning I have the whole rest of the week to work on Cherry Bomb and my Big Bang and maybe even This Way To The Egress. WOOHOO! \o/
