On second thought, I take all of that back. They're probably very mean things to imply about someone who, considering he gets paid to write supposedly funny (but not really) recaps of television shows but appears to have a hard-on for making fun of online fandom as though they're not his entire audience, is clearly a moron.

Seriously, Jacob's out-of-left-field attitude towards fandom lately reeks of, to quote Clerks, "This job would be great it if wasn't for the fucking customers." And I don't understand how you don't get fired for that attitude.

Shrugs. Enough people must think he's laughing with them, not at them. Like I've said, a looong time ago I saw the site was becoming about snark for snark's sake, and now I guess they've moved from hating everything about the shows the review to hating the people who watch them.

I really have to wonder about people who continue to support internet celebrities who've shown nothing but contempt for them. Not just twop...this kind of behavior on both sides of the coin in all over the 'net lately.

His new thing seems to be making fun of how pathetic he thinks fanfic writers are in his recaps, as though it has anything whatsoever to do with what he's writing about. I could see if he were recapping SPN, where fanfic is actually canon (I'd still be offended, but he'd at least have a reason to even be discussing fanfic), but what he's doing is mocking someone else -- gay people who are too flamboyant for his tastes, for one -- and then he'll compare them to how pathetic he finds fanfic writers, and how they're all fat white chicks who can't get laid.

I can remember when Jacob took over the BSG recaps and he was actually good. He was funny, concise, and he didn't hate all the characters like the previous recapper. But somewhere along the way he decided to get philosophical about BSG (which was, admittedly, easy to do) and start writing long-winded, unfunny recaps and none of his editors stopped him so he just kept going.

Good Lord. (And what I've always found so frustrating about TWoP is that there's no freaking platform where God forbid you can give feedback about content apart from directly emailing the recappers. I mean, I understand all the changes they've made to the site, in theory, anyway, and why they made them, but damn it's annoying as a user and reader of the site. You've got all those lovely forums! Let us use them, please.)

This is what stopped me reading anything he's had a hand in - when the recaps went from amusing comments on the characters and show to 30-odd page treatises on judeochristian mythology and the mysticism of the unknown... and even then, as you say, BSG did lend itself to that crap, so fair enough. But when every freaking recap he ever did ever again turned into the exact same thing? I laughed so hard at the first page of the last Doctor Who special he recapped, but it was the only page I ended up reading...

It feels like nowadays he can only write vague incomprehensible treaties on Grace (or *insert mysticism here*) or be full-on nasty to fannish people. The thing that annoyed me with those was god forbid if I'd missed an episode and just wanted to know what happened. Given how often BSG dealt with visions and the like, I could never tell if anything in Jacob's babble was him going off on one of his tangents or something that actually happened in the ep.
