Status of the writer, Big Bang edition

Current word count: 1500 words
Time until story is due: Nine days.

This is going to be the roughest rough draft to end all rough drafts. It's going to be a log with the bark still on on its way to the lumber factory.

But I've got the entire weekend from eight tomorrow night to ten Monday morning to write another, er, 13500 words. Or more, hopefully, all things considered. I bought Pepsi and Cheetos today, so I'll be all stocked up for writer food.

Oh, man, I am SUCH a glutton for punishment. I should just skip this writing thing and spend the entire weekend whacking myself in the face with an oar instead. I'll probably feel the same way when Monday rolls around either way. *sigh*

EDIT: Just out of curiosity, show of hands -- who's at the same level I'm at but still trying to finish in time for the deadline? It's always nice to know you're not the only nut.

I can already tell I'm not sleeping a wink this weekend. I haven't gotten a story done for Big Bang since the first year and I want to get one done SO MUCH.

I keep trying to remind myself that the one year I managed to win NaNo I got ten thousand words written in a day, and I would only have to hit a little less than seven thousand each day this weekend to do the 15k I think I'd need to make to have any hope of finishing on time.

I'm just going to have to be really, REALLY disciplined. *buckles down*

I do technically have another fic that's only 4k short that I can use if I need to, but it's not the one I want to use.

Oh, God, I know what you mean. I would get the occasional inspiration for a Jensen/Jared fic while I was stalled on the Ellen/Mary story, but I was all stubborn and, "NO, NO, NO." I want the Ellen/Mary story, damn it, especially now that I finally figured out how to pull it off the way I want.

And hey, even if I miss the deadline, I'll still have a nice long story to post for the first time in a loooooong time. :)

How many words you got left until you crack 20k? I figure I'll have to do 7k on Sunday and Saturday each to have any sort of hope of finishing by May 1st, which I think I can pull off since I did 10k in a day one year for NaNo.

I think I'm pretty much going to do the same thing I did that day this weekend. Every time I got two thousand words done I got to take a break and watch TV for an hour. So I think I may try to download all of the episodes of The Vampire Diaries and let myself watch one of those every time I get, say, 1500 words out of the way.
