The only problem I have with Dean going back to Lisa, specifically, is this: Did everyone just forget Cassie existed?

I get that sometimes actors don't want to come back, or are involved in something else, what have you, but there wasn't even a mention of her, and Dean loved her.

I never got that vibe about Lisa. More that he was putting her and Ben on a pedestal as part of the normal life he wasn't gonna have.

...aka I feel exactly the same way. I've got nothing against Lisa or Ben. In fact, I think Ben is awesome...but still. I wonder whatever happened to Cassie. :-/

Five seasons of the show happened to Cassie, I think. Considering she was in one episode waaaaaay back in season one (and one bad episode, at that) and even Dean hasn't mentioned her since, and he's changed a LOT since then, AND she wasn't that receptive to the demon-hunting thing even after he saved her life, I'm not the least bit surprised there was no mention of Cassie now.

Hmm. When you put it like that, I get it. I have to admit, I haven't seen her episode in a long time. He just seemed so passionate about her in the ep, so I guess that's all I was really remembering.

There just hasn't been much opportunity in the show for Lisa and Dean to have any kind of passionate moment or have too much time to find out what Lisa is like as a person other than being a mom. So, hopefully we'll get that chance in season 6.

I think that's exactly the point, though. Is he in love with Lisa? I think he's more infatuated with the idea of her rather than actually in love with her. Even he pretty much said as much to her when he went to her house that night, when he told her that when he thinks about a normal life these days, he thinks about her. There's a reason that there's a metric fuckton of fanfic about Dean not fitting in there and walking away. I get the impression even the writers aren't equating Lisa with The Great Shining Love of Dean Winchester's Life.

Then again, the same goes for Cassie. Considering even Dean hasn't mentioned her since that episode, I wouldn't precisely call her the love of his life, either. And Dean is MILES away from the man he was in season one.
