apocalypsos... or, you know, not, if you don't like beer.
It's Old Home Week in my hometown, which means three days of funnel cakes and fireworks and avoiding people with whom I would inevitably become involved in those delightful "Where are they now?" conversations where I tell them I'm alone and unpublished and they tell me they have 2.5 kids and a house and a fence and a dog and a college degree and actually, they've been published half a dozen times already, what the hell is taking ME so long?
Yeah, okay, in my brain my life is the uncomfortable high-school-reunion scene in a bad romantic comedy.
But, yeah. Am skipping work tomorrow for a mental health day, which is sort of hilarious considering tomorrow night at this time I'll be at my parents' house swilling booze and being incredibly grateful for the fireworks as it will mean that I will not be able to hear my family talk for at least fifteen minutes. You'd think for a mental health day I'd be avoiding the randomly racist, sexist, homophobic people I'm related to. Le sigh.
On the bright side, NEW PROJECT RUNWAY IN SEVEN MINUTES OMG. On the dark side, however, I should be hearing the loud wails of firetruck sirens passing down Main Street during the light parade right about the time that they announce the challenge. Urgh.
